Question about Philips Magnavox MDV453 DVD Player
Having same problem with mdv453 unit that has not been used a lot. Cleaned and inspected lens. Did not help. Watching the laser focusing action, it seems to settle on a spot size larger than the smallest observed during the focusing process. That seems odd, unless what you see from the back of the DVD is not the spot size hitting the data tracks. By the way, the unit plays audio CDs just fine.

Maybe you have dirty lens! clean the lens with 100% cotton then slightly rub the lens at clockwise movement! or you have defective flex ribbon wire or laser eye!
