Question about LG RU-60SZ30 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

I was told I need a new lamp ballast assembly. I was also told by someone to order 6913V00002C Ballast (EUC 100 P/11) but when I opened my TV and took out the "bad" ballast, its is a EUC 100 C/00. Anybody know how to make this work or did I just waste my money and have to wait and order another one?

mine is a push lever that the case pages into to make sure the cover is on. I believe that it's fine cuz my lamp indicator light is not flashing. what is the lic cable ?

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 29, 2013

it connects the avi board to the projector board. there is a socket. check the pins are not bent or broken.

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 29, 2013

lamp indicator only comes on if the bulb is in use or not when it has blown lol

  • Paul Mueller Oct 29, 2013

i have no clue what or where that is ?

  • Paul Mueller Oct 29, 2013

well my manual says that the lamp indicator light will flash if it has something to do with the lamp and mine isn't. My tv starts running(blinking yellow light) then as soon as it sounds like its going to turn the lamp on, it shuts off and goes to red standby light again

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

I found the F800 fuse and it looks fine. still looking for the other fuse

  • Paul Mueller Nov 09, 2013

are you able to send me the tip files? I'm at a loss on what to do. I cant find other fuse and I tried heating up certain boards but didnt seem to work. I really would like to fix tv but can't afford to spend any more money on it.

So the one first is an LG model ballast but the one in the tv is a phillips one, strange.. can you give me the bord number power side... it is always best to replace old number so the damaged numer one should be the number you use. LG, Philips etc use different part to make the same tv model. e.g one can be made in twain and the other from china. both the same case do the same things but have completely different parts in side. Looking at the parts on line they don't have the same connections or the same voltage so would be a bad idea to try and put the new one in with the wrong number.

Sorry what do you want me to find...board number power side?

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 23, 2013

yes there will be a serial number on the power board somthing like uhm-232 this is not the number one off the top of my head. off the power board there will be 2 wires that go off to the ballast board and then from the ballast board there will be 4 wires going to the av control board that tell the av board there is a bulb attached .

  • Paul Mueller Oct 23, 2013

Does it say "to ballast" on it?...if so then it's 6870VS1214A

  • Paul Mueller Oct 23, 2013

    The power board says 6870VS1663A

Just got the euc 100 P/11 but the main connection to lamp is different. ugh

  • Paul Mueller Oct 28, 2013

So I got the correct ballast now and have installed it but the original problem still exhausts. The tvs operation indicator starts to flash yellow when i try to power on the tv but then that light just goes back to a solid red. Like its warming up then just shuts itself off right before the tv turns on

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 28, 2013

have you pushed the switch on the lamp case needs to bee kept in place.this could be the fault now. this needs to be in tv does system check first before starting.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 28, 2013

    What switch?

  • Paul Mueller Oct 28, 2013

Are you talking about the lamp cover switch ? or something else??

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 29, 2013

on the case that screws in the is a switch is on it. its either a flick up type is red or blue or a push button type black but in both cases it will have 2 wires coming out of it.... sorry for the delay site did don't tell me any one had replied.....if every thing is plugged in and the switch .is engaged. then the only thing i can think off is the lic up cable is not in properly...

  • Paul Mueller Oct 29, 2013

Im also wondering if I connected one wire wrong, if the tv would be doing this for that reason

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 29, 2013

getting 2 messages now whats going on. also check the wiring you may have pulled one out when you moved the boards to replace.

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 30, 2013

if you just take the back off get some string and tie up the switch or remove the wire to the switch and but them together as I have read the service manual and it says that the switch is either not engaged or there is a major fault with the power board. says this is a fualt that the main power is not getting to the ballast board and control board to switch on tv.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 30, 2013

ok. I tied switch back and tv still is doing it. so it's a power board

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 30, 2013

did it do this before the ballast needed changing ??

  • Paul Mueller Oct 30, 2013

yes...the tv would start up blinking yellow and then go back to red light standby

  • Paul Mueller Oct 30, 2013

it sounds like.when the power is.trying.to send.to the lamp it shuts off.the tv

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

you know the small power broad that is in line with the ballast board. just check that for me i thinking the tv repair man has gave you a goat. do you hear the clicking of switches when you turn the tv on ?? also can you hear the fan kick in... should hear a click the the fan comes on. I'm thinking the power is not getting out to the parts. like a damaged switch or weak capacitors some were..

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

yes as soon as I push the power button, I hear clicking by the ballast area and the fan is on and then I hear a click when it shuts back off

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

I tried to make a video of what is happening... its on youtube

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

right can hear the click but it should go click click as 2 switches go over. the power is not getting some were. I will have to have a good read of the service manual and get back to you.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

Okay.thank you so much. Would a better video of exact sound help?

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

yellow light should be (orange), says flashing is preparing to standby. are you using the remote to turn on or the power button on the tv ? as says after any repairs it should be turn'd on with the button on the tv. then the remote to turn on.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

after ballast was changed, I used remote to turn on tv but this was still happening

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

F401- F800 check these two on the board these are the numbers they are slow blowing fuse FUSE,SLOW BLOW 500MA- 250V FUSE,SLOW BLOW 5000MA 125V.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

do you have any pictures or what board these would be on?

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

it also has a bulb seat switch. the bulb assembly case should push on it. and the only othing i can find if its not working is the temp control in the fan has gone this would make it not go out off standby. was the ballast a new one or secondhand ?

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

I have the service manual has pic's on it but cannot take them off it. I will put up the web page to get it from there its in pdf. hold on.

I have to try and find those fuses.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

I'll look for the bulb switch as well. I think the fan is working. I mean its always running. and I bought the ballast secondhand.

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Oct 31, 2013

the fan can be working but the temp side can fail. it dont say much on the fan but there is 2 - 3 - 4 wire type. I have the repair tips file but it just says that a switch or something like it is not functioning it could be a dry joint on the board some were or one of the fuses and the ballast there is a white blob resister on a form they have changed this and it has worked but there is no part number for it. and others have had the baskets sent in post and they don't work. been dropped in post.if you compare some of the parts on the old one to the new one see if there is any difference in resistance.

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

I found the F800 fuse and it looks fine but still trying to fine the

  • Paul Mueller Oct 31, 2013

    find the other one.

  • Paul Mueller Nov 02, 2013

I haven't found the other fuse but I have a question for you. so when this first happened to this tv, it was put in a basement for about a year and then when i tried to turn it on it actually turned on and worked for a day then went back to doing what it is doing now. does that help you narrow it down at all.

  • Russ Hill
    Russ Hill Nov 02, 2013

if a capacitor is at fault. this can be the same as you have said. a large capacitor/s when they discharge it would take a few hours to a few days for them to go again. ballast would not do that as the bulb takes the power when it has been turn'd off by the power board that is why it stays on for a bit wile the tv is off.the only way the ballast would do it is if the bulb went at the time off shut down, then some how the bulb set it self later. have something for you to try, warm one board at a time with a hair dryer. get the board nice and warm then try to turn on the tv. if it comes on the board you have heated is the one at fault and it will be the capacitors on this board at fault. when they at temp (hot/warm) the act like the tv has been on for awhile have done this before to other boards not only on tv's and it has pin pointed the board at fault.

  • Paul Mueller Nov 09, 2013

well I couldn't find the other fuse still. and I tried to heat certain boards but didn't seem to work cuz tv still did the same thing. are you able to send me the tip files? I would like to fix this tv but can't afford to put anymore money into it.

The lights indicated that I needed to replace my lamp. After doing so, the TV still doesn't have picture. What do I have to do to get it to work?

It is possible that the Ballast is not turning on the lamp. In past years it had been difficult to get the Ballast separate from the Optical Block but they seemed have them available. In order to replace it you will need to remove the Optical Block which is in the center. The ballast assembly is mounted on the right side of the OpticaL Block. Once the Optical Block assembly is removed, it is not difficult to replace. To order a Ballast, call 1800-631-3811. You will need the model number.
I hope this helps,

Samsung SP50L6HX, I replaced the Lamp but still nothing.

Hi, Samsung haves a known issue with the ballast, once you make a replacement of the lamp, sometimes its harder to ignite a new lamp that has 100% of gas inside than igniting a old lamp that has maybe 60% or 50% of gas inside. Just in order to ignite the lamp, the ballast needs to send some High Pulses of Voltage, as high as 15 kV (that is the constant clicking sound that you are hearing). In order to resolve this you need to change the Ballast Board. I tried to look for your ballast with your TV Model # at samsungparts.com , but nothing showed up. You will need to find out which ballast part # you have in order to find it online. To locate the ballast part # please check the end of this video, you only need to take the lower back cover of TV off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q
Here is a link of a ballast I found http://www.discount-merchant.com/SAMSUNG-9137-008-08905-Lamp-Ballast-Driver-p/1138231.htm?Click=49915

Samsung dlp 5085w comes on for four minutes then turns off. someone told me that the lamp was slightly damaged and the source for the lamp wasnt functioning properly. Is the source, THE BALLAST? If I put...

It could be one or both, but i would just try the lamp first. There has been only a few times whre i have seen both fail, the lamp can dammage the ballast. But if the lamp is striking the ballist is working to some extent, so i would not assume the ballist is bad at this point. Although if you are still having trouble after the lamp repacement then i would suspect the ballast.
