Why is the display always on?

Sounds like it is recognizing it, so probably wired correctly.

Browse the owners manual for the settings, you might have them set wrong.

Wired or wireless? Try a Wired Ethernet cable connection if wireless. Have you rebooted the Laptop?

My LG wired remote control has no display - just turned off - seems to have no power - circuit breaker has not tripped? Any advice????

sounds like blown fuse in low voltage control wires. Due to short in wireing usually a wire rubbing against somthing due to vibration. Coating starts coming off wire then touches metal. If fuse replaced and it runs it will most likely will happen again unless short is located.

HI, I HAVE A SYLVANIA MODEL SA 170 , I CAN´T SEE THE NUMBERS WHEN I´M IN FROM THE SCREEN, IT´S APPEARS VERY DARKS

If I understand correctly, you have Sylvania 170 timer and the display doesn't light up.
If you have different problem, add a comment.

A) If this is existing installation and timer display worked correctly before, then it sounds like timer malfunctioned or power to timer is interrupted. Check breaker, and then pull out timer and test for power.

B) If this is new installation, then 2 possible things:
1) Timer defective: exchange for new one.
2) Timer not wired correctly.

Review wiring:
Timer replaces single pole switch.
Single pole switch has two wires
Timer has 3 wires: Blue Black White
Timer has additional wire to run internal clock and to light up display.
If timer not wired correctly, then display will not light up.

Here is correct wiring:
a) Two wires from switch.
b) Connect timer-blue wire to one of the switch wires. Choose either one for now. You will have to choose other wire if display doesn't light up.
c) Connect timer-black wire to other switch wire.
d) Timer-white wire does NOT connect to either switch wire. Look in back of electric box. There are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut. These are neutral wires. Connect timer-white wire to neutral wires. This will power the clock and display.
e) If your box does not have the white wires described in d), then connect timer-white wire to bare ground wire.
f) Turn power ON. Does display light up?
g) If display lights up, switch is wired correctly.
h) If display does not light up, then reverse timer-blue wire and timer-black wire shown in step b) and c).

How do I change the bulb for the radio station display?

I'm assuming this is an LCD back lit display. To replace the lamps (usualy more than one) you will need to unsolder all the contacts on the LCD display. Usualy 20 or more contacts. The lamps are soldered through the circuit board and are usualy grain of wheat leaded types. Some lamps are wired in series so if one goes out they both go out. Others are wired in parallel in wich case one fails and the dimmer display is ignored until the other one fails. Usualy two 6v lamps for series or two 12v lamps for parallel. If in doubt try measuring the supply voltage to the lamps before removing the display.

NO sound, display says CHECK SP cable? Just bought yamaha292 theater system with AV receiver HTR-6230, all speakers are wired, plug with 1 optical to my TV, selected the inputs and there's no sound. ...

Probably the speakers are not wired correctly. Check this by turning on the receiver without speakers connected. If the message is gone, issue was in the connection of speakers. Check that you have not short-wired the + and -.

I have just got a new vista laptop and cant get a connection without a lead.

Does your laptop have built-in wireless?

If so it has an on/off switch so you can use it in planes. Have you turned it on?

Using the following link for instructions
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ipconfig-IP-Configuration-in-Windows-Vista-55975.shtml

execute the command (one space before /)

ipconfig /all

Record the following
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask ---------(wired should match wireless)
  • Default Gateway ----(wired should match wireless)
  • DNS Address(es) ---(wired should match wireless)

Using the same command window then this command (replace the 192.168.2.1 with the default gateway from ipconfig if different)

ping 192.168.2.1

this should display 4 messages with elapsed times if it works and 4 timeout messages if it fails.

Once when wired and once when wireless
-- from what you have said the wired answers should be right
------ we are going to compare to wireless to look for problems
-- tell me the differences between the two displays
-- you will need to write down the results from each pass

If the switch issue does not solve the problem the above information should allow me to determine what is wrong.
