Oil no longer lubricates the chain on saw groove and oil hole are clear

Sometimes saw dust and shavings block the oil port and track strip down the bar and chain there maybe a cover over the oil port remove this and clean carefully replace all remember to clean the bar put the chain on do not over tighten run the saw if there is no oil you may have damage to the oil pump this can happen if the saw was used with no oil or a blocked oil way some of the pumps will overheat causing damage hope this helps good luck

Please tell me how to adjust the bar oil on a Makita uc4030a electric chainsaw. It is a new saw and there is no oil going on to the chain.

I don't believe there is an adjustment for the oil and if there is it won't help you. the problem in either a simple issue like you forgot to add (not likely but have to throw it out there) to an issue with the oil pump or pump drive. if you run the saw with no bar and chain do you get oil out of the passage?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Remove the rear cover Item 33 this link:

Gently start rocking the fan GENTLY back and forth by gripping it in the large center area and see if it will rotate. If you ran it completely out of oil; the piston, piston rings or rod end bearings will seize up. If you can not rotate it by hand and your sure it has locked up... you are going to have to overhaul the pump or replace it. The link above is a good source for parts.

Before considering an overhaul... read out the motor windings after the pressure switch to see if the motor windings are open or read a resitance value under 480 Ohms.

Depending on the motor pump used most of them have thermal overloads that will self reset when the unit cools off. It should self reset in less than 15 minutes if there is one. Ones without a thermal overload end up cooking the motor windings or tripping the house circuit CB if they run out of oil.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

No oil to bar

Remove the nuts that hold the clutch cover on, Then remove the bar and chain. Make sure the port hole in the bar is open for the oil to flow into the chain groove. The oil ports can get plugged by sawdust and chips. Bar oil is sticky. The bar and chain should be removed and cleaned on a regular basis. Clean the groove in the bar too. Also make sure the port on the saw body is open. Start the saw with the bar and chain removed, if oil doesn't flow from the port, then you have a faulty oil pump and will need to go in deeper to replace the pump parts.
Always use proper clean chainsaw bar oil. Using other types of oil can burn up your oil pump.

Hi, oil is flowing freely from the holes at the front of the saw.

Did Makita give any oil pump adjustment? Most gas saws have them. Underneath below the oiler hole.
I am going to allow this to close we can still talk to one another.

What I would do first is remove the bar and run the saw a short time to see if oil coming out of pump (make sure there is oil in the tank) if so recheck the bar for blockage in the small round hole in the side and run something like a paper clip or small piece of metal to clean out the groove. If you need a breakdown for this tool you might want to try I haven't checked to see if it is there but usually it would be. Good luck

We need Make, model and serial numbers from the manufacturer's tag to help you any more. Your manuals can be found here:
