SOURCE: Broken light switch on a Nutone

The Black 120vac Line In wire goes into "L". The Black wire goes into "2". The Red Wire goes into "3". When you install the switch, the Red and Black wires will be on top of the switch.

SOURCE: makita table saw switch wiring

After much trial and error, a little smoke, and wrecking one replacement switch, I solved a similar problem with my Craftsman Cmpd Mitre saw. Different saw, but likely the same principles are involved.
If the switch is a double pole single throw switch, with one side normally open (N0) and the other normally closed (NC), and the saw has a separate wire for the brake, this will probably work.

One side of the switch should have contacts that are normally open (NO) and only connect when the switch is ON. The Hot (Black) wire from the plug connects to the wire on the machine side (red or maybe black) through this NO side. So, connect these two wires via this NO side and the saw will run when the switch is ON but will have no brake; so far so good.
There should be another wire (Not the neutral white) which is the brake wire. This gets connected to one of the connection sites of the Normally Closed (NC) side of the switch. From the other connection site of this NC side run a short "jumper" wire (of the same guage as the other wires) to the Machine Side of the NO side of the switch (same place as that Red or Black? wire above) .
What seems to happen is this:
There's no power to the machine or the brake when the switch is OFF. Turn it ON and power goes from Hot through the NO (now closed) side and the saw runs. The brake doesn't run when the saw runs because the NC switch is now open. Turn the switch OFF and the NC switch is in fact closed and power is transfered to the brake via the jumper wire from the still spinning armature which now acts as a generator (alternator?). Once the brake has done its job and the armature stops spinning there's no power anywhere until you turn the switch ON again.
Or at least that's the theory, and in my case it works; no more smoke.

SOURCE: 4wd not engaging

Is it a two wire actuator or a three wire actuator? The two wire ones are pretty unreliable. that is why Chevrolet converter them to the three wire. Check for power and ground on the two wire in 4wd. For the three is should have one ground wire, one wire that is hot in 4wd, and one wire that is hot in 2wd.

How do i replce the switch on a ridgid ts2400

If the switch is burnt out, you just take the fasteners out and re-connect the wires in the new switch the same way they were connected in the old switch.

If your problem is that the switch won't move at all, it's likely you are missing the plastic safety key that plugs into the switch to make it operable. Those keys are identical over most brands of power tools and can be purchased cheaply at woodworker's tool supply stores and hardwares.

Can I replace Ridgid 4510 table saw with a simple light switch?

No, the saw can reach peak amp up to 30 amps, too much for a light switch controlling a 15amp circuit. Is something wrong with your switch, I might have another idea. waynehill@charter.net

I have to replace the power switch on my Delta Shopmaster 10" radial arm saw. I have the switch, which is a Delta 438010170206S Rocker Switch has (4) terminals. I need to know which wire goes where????

How many wires do you have? The switch is probably a 2 pole, On-Off. If you have 2 wires, connect them to two terminals on one side of the switch (use an ohm-meter to find which terminals make-break). If there are 4 wires, connect the black and white power cord wires to different sides of the switch. Then connect the two motor wires to the two remaining terminals. DO NOT CONNECT THE BLACK AND WHITE POWER WIRES TO THE MAKE-BREAK TERMINALS OF THE SWITCH. This creates a short in the power cord and will trip a breaker.

How do you replace the trigger switch? I have a new one and have taken the saw apart but am having problems with how to attach the new switch wires.

I have not disassembled my Remington Pole saw but mine has a two-wire circuit (no ground) so it should not make any difference which wire is connected to which post. Preferably, though, you should match wire colors. There should be some kind of connector block linking the trigger switch to the incoming power wire and the wire that runs to the saw motor. Attaching the new wires should simply be a process of reversing the procedure you used to remove the original trigger switch. If you cut the wires to remove the old switch, hopefully, you left enough wire end to strip them and solder the end of the new switch to the old wire.

I am purchasing a generator to rum Ridgid 4510 table saw off grid. What is the start-up wattage?

3000 watts should work ok. Take the motor amps (12) times the voltage (120) to get watts - then double for the start current.

Ridgid TS3660 10 INCH TABLE SAW TH100085 MOTOR. I need replacement part for thermal cutoff switch. I broke the red button off the switch and now the motor will not start. I cannot find a replacement...

I have been fixing table saws, compressors and other tools with similar motors for several years and I have never been able to find anyone who sells just the thermal switch on these motors. I usually use one from another motor that's burned out if I need one. You'll have to find a repair center that has motors they could take one of these switches out of and sell/give to you. Otherwise, it's a new motor to get one.

My ridgid table saw keep blowing up the breaker and also smell funny.

My guess is that your breaker is too small. You need at least a 20amp breaker and the correct 12-2 wiring for the saw.

Where do i find a gfi for my tile saw? it stopped

You usually don't install gfi's at the load (saw) but instead at a socket where the plug is inserted. If you use an extension cord, change the socket end to a metal 'handy' outlet box and install a local type gfi there. Wire the black wire to the brass screw, the white wire to the silver screw, and green wire to the green screw. Make sure that none of the wire strands are left loose to short out on something. They are available in any hardware store or home center. Hope this helps!
