I had heard that these Vulcan oil heaters can also run on diesel, is this true?

Not designed to run on diesal, it will run dirty, be hard to light, require cleaning more often, definitely not recomended and not give good result.

Vulcan oil heater how to remove heating element

Burner pot needs to be removed from heater, for hearers of this vintage, Best advice is to have the burner pot and heater serviced and replace ignition element at same time, I can do this, live in Adelaide. Probably cost $250 inc parts, test run, calibrate.

Just installed a vulcan oil heater, but when you start it up it will only burn yellow flames and keeps going out and will smoke, then relight with a bang,

Sounds like you may have the wrong size tip on your oil burner. A yellow flame indicates too much fuel not enough oxygen.

1998 kaw vn 800 classic has no oil pressure, engine heated and first sign was both light coming on then top radiator hose blew. I changed out every radiator hose and thermostat and the lights stay on. I...

On most of the older Kaw's they had a plastic oil gear and when this brakes then you will have no oil pressure. You can go here http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm , his page has all the information on Vulcan Motorcycles that you would ever need to know. There is information on there on how to replace the plastic oil gear or the POG as we Vulcan riders call it.

Vulcan oil heater

Regarding the wiring on my ancient Vulcan oil heater...I have only just received a wiring diagram (dated January 1969), which I am just about to get stuck in to. I hope that I can follow it (the drawing looks like the last copy of something that's been copied 1,000 times before on one of those old Roneo, wet ink, wind-it-by-hand copiers). The drawing came from a Vulcan agent on the very far side of Adelaide. Here's hoping. Ooroo, John. .
