The tab key is randomly pressing on my windows 8 pavillion laptop. This is causing issues like my laptop to jump to different chats on facebook while I am typing. It also scrolls through pages and affects me while playing games. How can I fix this problem and stop tab from randomly pressing?

This worked for me. Search for Device Manager and open mouse hardware. Roll back to previous driver. This may work.

It sounds like your scroll lock key is stuck on. Press the Function key and the scroll lock key at the same time and this sound turn off the permanent scroll lock.

You need to go to the mouse settings. This is usually in Control Panel.
If using Vista, you can click the start button and in the search field, just type "mouse". That will find exactly what you're looking for.

Once you go into the Mouse Properties, click on the Tapping tab. There should be an option (checkbox) that says "Tap off when typing".

Check that box and you should be ok.

Swap out the mouse.

If there is a ball underneath, remove it and clean the X and Y rollers.
