It should be able to handle any IDE, EIDE or PATA drive size that you plug into it. Your operating system may be a limiting factor. Just to be safe I would stay under 500Gb and partition if needed.

The NewEgg reviews are mixed for the second unit. I generally lean towards the larger PSU but it depends on your future plans. For the little difference in price, I'd do the 850.
