Question about Acer Computers & Internet

Open Question

My Acer TimelineX model 5830T gives a "No bootable device" message. It makes it seem that the hard drive is going bad, but when I remove it an put in an external sata device, the drive works without error. I put it back in the laptop and get the same message. I then have to put pressure above the keypad and hold it down while powering on the system and it boots up. I've had this problem before and sent it in to Acer for out of warranty service for approximately $199 with a 90-day warranty. Almost 1 year later, the same problem occurs. It's not the hard drive. Have you seen this problem before? Is there a fix without having to send it to Acer again?

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Go into the BIOS settings at boot up. Disable the option to boot from network, that must solve it :)

My daughter's ACER inspire one gives the following message and makes a beeping sound "Check Cable connection! PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE Rom No bootable device---insert boot disk and press any key

There is a loose connection between the hard drive and motherboard of the computer, that's why you are getting that message. You most likely need to take it to a computer repair shop so they can fix it.

Computer will nt start and gives this message: no bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key.

Hello Sir, hi, try removing all usb devices on your Aspire, and then boot again, if the problem still persist, go to bios setup and look and see if the hard drive is present, if yes you need to setup windows again. The ASPIRE one later models now comes with a 120 GB hard drive but has an SD card/Flash module for a hard drive as well.

I have put windows 7 onto my acer and i want to put vista back on using my acer disc, the message reeds no bootable device

Have you made the CD/DVD drive the first bootable device?
When you installed windows 7, did you delete the ACER recovery partition on your hard drive.
If this has been deleted, you may need a full copy of windows, not just a restore disc.
Where you having problems with windows 7?
I have found 7 to be far superior to vista

This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector
