This is not as easy as the trap door on the bottom but it's not to bad if you just take your time. Remove power supply and battery. Follow all safety rules.
The memory is located under the keyboard. Take your time, open the screen to full open position, locate the small slot to pry the strip around the buttons at the top between the keyboard and the screen. Slowly work around until it all pops off. Then you will see three small screws at the top of the keyboard, remove them and look for a small pry point along the side of the keyboard. Don't just pull it off as it is still connected via ribbon cable to the mainboard. You will see a fabric tab at the top of the connection, pull on that until it releases. And there you'll see the spot...You can only increase your memory to one gigabite...no more than 512 MBs in each of the slots. PC-2100 (266MHz). It does not support dual memory nor do you need to install in pairs. Put things back the way they came out and you are finished. Once you have done it, it is not bad at all...take your time and force nothing.
Hope this helps, please leave rating, thankyou kindly

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

Reg ram upgradation

Each memory slot on the C555NR can support a maximum of 1GB of RAM. There are actually 2 slots, but only one is easily accessible to you. By upgrading both the primary and secondary DIMMs, you could achieve a total of 2GB of memory but you would have to remove the 512mb chip that is already installed and replace it with 1GB (+1GB in the expansion slot as well.)

If you don't plan on taking the computer to a professional to be serviced, you will probably only want to upgrade the memory in the secondary slot located under the memory cover on the underside of the computer. It can handle a 1GB SODIMM.

FYI the memory is:
200 Pin DDR2-533 PC2-4200 SODIMM

Good luck!

I want to know if I can upgrade the harddrive and memory

Depending on the memory you already have you can install upto a maximum of 1GB 266MHZ DDR, and cannot see any reason for not being able to upgrade your hardrive for a bigger one, but be aware that the Operating system backup will probably be on a seperate partition on your current hardrive, unless you got an installation cd with your laptop.
