When i shutdown my pc through windowsXP professional edition sp2 menu. a blue window screen appears and it kept on saying "windows is shutting down" for so long without shutting it down automatically so ive to press the power button manually to shutit down. the main problem is when i shutdown my emachine E725 through windows it doesnot shutdown automatically and hands and ive to shut it down manually through power button
I had the same problem on E725 model, I fixed it by installing XP SP3.
Hey guys I faced a similar issue and I guess there are multiple reasons: 1) Virus affected 2) Issues with s/w provided
The good news is that I overcame it and everything is smooth :)
for point 1) please check if you can run regedit, if it says disabled by admin, then it is seriously affected with a trojan
Here's the solution:
1) take a backup of data in all your drives c,d,e (applicable)
2) format all your drives
3)Install WinXP and then the motherboard s/w for LAN,sound, display and I guess this should suffice
For Webcam since XP has its preinstalled s/w we dont require the s.w in the acer DVD
4)Make sure you use Kaspesky AV thereafter before connecting to internet
I find problem: problem to appear after installing driver of web camera (09._Camera_Suyin_Driver_Video_WebCam5.8.48.500). When to disable in Device Manager - Imaging Device - Video WebCam problem with Shuting down to do away ... but in this case webcamera don't work!
Maybe some have solution?
Reboot in safe mode (press F8 at start up), hopefully you have anti-virus software loaded, run it. If you don't have any installed see if you can download an anti-virus program from another machine onto a flash drive, and install off it. I would suggest Avast Home Edition, it's free, it updates, and it's great. Another possible fix may be to click on your start menu, select run, type "msconfig" at the run prompt (without the quotes). Then click the Startup tab. If you see any unknown programs loading at Startup, uncheck the entry(s), and reboot. Its most likely a virus that has your machine under the weather.
