Assembly of Lamp and cable.

The problem is from the cartridge, you should take them out and gently clean them.

I got the same problem "showing blank page"
It will be the hardware problem or scanning bulb may not work.

Try re-installing the scanner software.

Unfortunately, The 3400 series cannot be cleaned on the underside of the glass. Scanners with the capability of having the under side of the glass cleaned are listed below.

• HP Scanjet 2300c series and 3500c series
• HP Scanjet 5300c series
• HP Scanjet 8200 series
• HP Scanjet 3600 and 3900 series
• HP Scanjet 4500 and 5500 series

you need to change the milar kit.

This might be a hardware problem, but it could also be caused by an outdated (or corrupted) driver; you could uninstall the original driver, then download and install the newest version directly from HP here:
