Question about Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer
Model Number: mex731cas1 Brand: Electrolux Age: 6-10 years The other day I noticed that my washer isn't starting cold cycles anymore. I have to choose warm cycle and the stops just before the final rinse. Best way to describe this is to see the video below: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1695gh_mex731cas1-cannot-select-cold-cycle_tech Anyone have an idea what's wrong?
Hello Tuomas, thank you for allowing me to assist you!
Based on the video you have provided, it shows that your laundry center is experiencing one or two things, an issue with the water valve or a faulty timer. I am fairly confident that an authorized service agent will be able to restore your appliance to its normal operating condition. You can often locate a qualified service technician on the manufacturer website. I hope this information helps to some degree.

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.

It is much easier to take off the front panel than the back panel. You were correct there was a hairband clogging the drain hose trap.

If water remains in the drum the unit will not go into the final spin. There may be a couple of reasons for your problem.
1.) A coin or other foreign object is blocking the drain hose. Check the drain hose for foreign objects impeding the exit of the water.
2.) The Drain hose is not raised above the machine outlet to create a siphon effect. See your manual for proper hose positioning.
3.) The pump is a third possibility which you should hear the impeller spinning during the drain cycle. There is a coin catch after the diaphragm of the pump that looks like a rubber boot that should be inspected for objects if you remove the pump. I believe the pump is about $60.00 and is accessible after removing the front panel under the door.

Good Afternoon Dodgerfan66, thank you for your post!
I understand that you received a new Electrolux washer and there was water inside of it. It is normal to have some water inside of your washer. Most manufacturers' test product prior to shipment and unfortunately it is difficult to drain every drop of water. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt
