Laminator 17466 I need to take my laminator apart.

Laminator 17466 I need to take my laminator apart. It ate a paper I was laminating (nothing on either side; completely gone). I took the two screws out of the bottom, but still can't pull it apart. Any ideas?

Do I insert the printed paper into clear pouch & just put these 2 items into Smith Corona Laminator LX900? Do I need a heavy paper protector to surround these 2 items? How do I order a protector?

use what is called laminating pouches
you put what you want laminated in the pouch, centre it so that the edges all have the same space, wait until the green light on the laminator appears and enter the pouch with the folded end in first.
It will slowly move through and seal off as it goes
make sure that the pouch is entered square to the rollers or it will crease the finished product or jam the laminator
there is no need for any additional equipment

How do I get something out of that the laminator ate?

You can't do any more laminating until you do. Some laminators have to be used with a document carrier and some don't. It sounds like yours does need one. This happened to me once. You have to remove the screws on the bottom, lift off the top and you will find your document and laminate pouch wrapped around the roller. Using a sharp paring knife or nail scissors, cut the pouch along one side making sure not to damage the ceramic roller. I have a recollection that I cut the pouch away on both sides. I used a chef's boning knife as this was at work in an airport business class lounge.

How do I remove the back of my GBC laminator to remove paper that is stuck inside the unit?

First, you must take out 4 screws out of the cover on each side of the laminator , then you will see the screws that hold the back panel onto the laminator. West Laminating secs 405-324-6092

What is the difference between cold and hot laminators?

Hot laminators are the most common types of laminators. They use heat (220 to 300 degrees F) to apply the lamination. Hot laminators provide a better quality lamination that is more resistant to wear and tear. This is the preferred method of lamination for materials that are not effected by heat.

Cold laminators use pressure sensitive adhesives to bind the lamination film when the material being laminated is sensitive to heat. Certain inks in standard ink jet printers are known to have the ink melt in the machine. There are other types of printers that use heat sensitive paper. For these types of applications the cold laminator is the best choice.

you need to use the carrier (cardboard cover) that the lamination paper comes with.. if you dont use the carrier your plastic will stick to the hot rollers... you will need to take it apart and clean out the plastic.. easy to dow hen it is cold peels off easily... pain in the neck getting it back together as the wires in the front interfere with the front screw post...
