check to make sure that your flue pipes are together if the have not been put together properly it will not start, it has to pull in cold air while exhaust is forced out,, if it isn't right it will pul exahust thru the cold air intake and shut sown or not start at all,, you might want to call who ever installed it,they are supposed to warraty it for 1 year on labor at a min, to be able to install them thru the company,, rheem,, they are supposed to be quilaifeid and have a card that states they took the class to have the knowledge to do so.

It sounds like your gas/air mixture needs to be adjusted. The flame should have just the slightest amount of white, at the very tip. The rest should be evenly blue. There is an air vent adjustment in the line to the burner, right after the gas input.

SOURCE: Rheem Eco-180dvn. Error code 12
actually, does it give you a big rumble? if it does, then your problem is that the meter's btu's are not high enough and there's too litle gas getting to the heater so it's blowing itself out, basically. you'll need to call your gas provider and ask for them to bring in a higher btu meter. around 220,000 btu meter is best, so your furnace and gas stove(if you have one) dont take to much gas themselves, meaning dont get a 180,000 btu meter, because it would only be able to supply the heater.

Before calling service technician, open following link for troubleshoot resources:
The same error code and problem on one person's tankless unit can have different solution than another tankless unit.
This is because tankless require perfect operation of parts and sensors while being affected by incomming water and gas issues, and venting, plus plumbing factors.
Replacing one part is not always the fix, since that part interrelates with so many other parts, each affected by the operation of the other, and operation of the chip and integrity of wiring and wiring connections.
Read manual for yearly maintenance requirements, and calculate those costs when figuring anticipated $1-8 monthly energy savings from owning tankless.
Check that your region has reasonably-priced, qualified service technician for your brand before buying tankless. And check part list and cost of parts before buying any water heater because these factors weigh-in after a few years of operation.
Repair most tankless problems yourself, same day, any brand, for around $330.
Upvote the help.
And take advantage of fixya expert assistance live.
For a price, expert works with you while you work on water heater or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.
