WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT WONT TURN BACK NOR FORTH SPRAYED W D 40 IN IGNITION HOLE AND STILL WONT TURN

is the steering wheel locked? is the the gear shifter all the way in the park position if its an automatic that is...try moving the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the ignition it may help but not always the case.. spraying wd 40 in the ignition may cause more harm than good so be careful what you spray.. also check the key is it damaged in anyway? is it the same with all the keys meaning spares? in some vehicles it was a safety messure to lock the ignition if the shifter wasnt all the way in the park position or if the steering wheel was locked with pressure applied to it so try to jiggle it, so if its not due to a locked wheel then most likely the mechanical portion of the ignition may have broke the best thing to do at this point would involve getting the ignition replaced it will save you lots of head aches

The steering wheel has locked up and the battery light came on. The car won't start. What is the problem?

I need more info. Are the keys in the ignition and is the switch turned on. Check to see if you have the car all the way into park. Jiggle the gear selector around and see if it will start while you turn switch.

Key dont turn

try turning the steering wheel hard both ways while jiggling the key (gently, you don't wanna snap it off) in the ignition. usually it just gets hung up on the steering wheel lock.
if that doesn't do it, try the same but with a spare key

have to jiggle the steering wheel while gently trying to coax the key back. i have had this happen to me on a couple of occasions. finesse. don't try to force, just nice and gently back and forth and it will free up the internal locking mechanism which is preventing you from turning the wheel.

good luck, hope this helps

Changing the ignition in a 1995 Nissan 200SX

this is not a job a novice really should tackle as you can do a lot of damage to all the other switches located in the steering column. You should call a locksmith or have the car towed to an auto repair shop and have them change the switch.

Steering ignition switch lock

Jiggle the steering wheel back and forth while trying to get the key back in. Keep jiggling the wheel while turning the key until it all works out.

Ignition switch locks and it cant be cranked

your key may overly worn and replaced, try jiggling the key and steering wheel at the same time. if that doesnt work try sraying a penetrating oil, like WD40 or PB Blaster, into the lock cylinder. it could also be the shift knob safety switch not disengaging or a faulty ignition switch
