Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Panasonic SA Ak78 Stereo: CD player is skipping and it is not a cleaning issue and I don't think the lens is scratched as it may play well for 30 seconds but then start skipping. I have tried many, many CD's and all will do the same thing

If you can get to the rails on the cd player that the head moves back and forth on, clean them with a soft cloth.

Awesome. I cleaned the rail and also gave the lens a more aggressive cleaning with a swab bud and visually inspected for any residue of dust. It looked cleaned so I partially reassembled and plugged back in the ribbons and it is playing CD's perfect. I have now reassembled the complete unit and doing a long test to be sure. It is still working flawlessly. Thanks so much for that advice.

SOURCE: CD player

All this cd systems have the same problem. If you're using burned cd's sometimes they don't work so you need to close the session after burning in your burning program. If you're using original cd's it means that the device needs to be cleaned up (especially the lens) because the structure of a 5 cd combo device gets very dusty after a while. Also from my experience after cleaning it put a cd in each deck (even if it's off) so they could prevent it getting dustier again. Hope it helps, good luck!!

CD player skipping. Cleaned the lens but problem still exist

Try cleaning the disks as fingerprints and scratches can lead to read errors which are heard as skips.

Some cleaning solutions or reconditioners contain a special polymer that will fill in light scratches.

Why won't a cd disc that I "burned" play on my Panasonic CD Stereo System?

Try cleaning the lazer lens in the Panasonic cd player. Dust can cause it not to read the disk.

Your Panasonic stereo will have to be disassembled to access the CD drive. REMOVE POWER BEFORE DISASSEMBLY! Be sure to read and heed the warning about exposure to the laser before attempting maintenance. The tracking mechanism may need cleaning before it is lubricated. For lubrication, I have used silicone spray (the kind used to unstick windows) applied to a cotton swab and then applied to the mechanism tracks.

I have a 2006 Mazda 3 and the cd keeps skipping to the point that Im not able to listen to my cds

Sounds like your cd player is dirty or the disk you are trying to play is scratched and not useable?

You can purchase a cd disk cleaner at any department store or office supply. All you do is play the disk and follow the instructions. Some come with a mix of alcohol & water and have small brushed on the disk itself to place the liquid and this helps clean out your equipment. Others clean without liquid.

Check the disk itself for scratches and try wiping it off with a lint free towel. After cleaning your cd player, try playing it again and if it still skips - replace the cd. If a brand new disck skips in your disk player after cleaning it then your lazer might need repair and I would recommend taking it in to a local stereo installation and/or repair shop.

Good luck!

yes here is a simple easy way to get them to stop skipping, stick them in the freezer portion of your fridge, only if the cds have scratches on them, even the smallest scratch can cause a perfectly working cd player to make the cd skip, stick the cd in the freezer for about 15 or 20 mins and pull it out and play it, i have used this method for a lot of my video games as well and have never had to buy any "cd player cleaner cds" i hope this helps

I lost the english version manual just want to know how to record from cd to tape

Try this, select "cd" as your source, and load a cd. Press stop.

Then load a cassette, press play and record for the tape, and then press play for the cd player.

if you can get to the laser reader, try to clean it off with a q-tip, if it is too hard to get at, there should be like a special kit for cleaning the laser.
