The.spacebar.stopped..working.

If your space bar isn't responding when you press it, or if it responds sluggishly, it's possible that you have inadvertently enabled the "Sticky Keys" or "Filter Keys" accessibility option in Windows.

When these options are enabled, your keyboard response time will be dramatically slowed and may require more than one tap to register a keystroke.

Fortunately, it's easy to disable these functions and return your keyboard to normal working order.

Click "Start" and select "All Programs."

Click "Accessories" and select "Ease of Access."

Click "Ease of Access Center."

Click "Make Keyboard Easier to Use."

Click "Set Up Sticky Keys." Deselect the checkbox that says "Turn on Sticky Keys When Shift is Pressed Five Times." Make sure the box that says "Turn on Sticky Keys" is not checked. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Click "Set Up Filter Keys." Uncheck the box that says "Turn on Filter Keys."

Click on the checkbox next to "Turn On Filter Keys When Right Shift Is Pressed For 8 Seconds" to deselect it. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Click "OK" again to save all of the keyboard accessibility changes you have made.

Hope this helps

I can't turn off Filterkeys. Somehow Filterkeys got turned on and now I have to hold down each key for about a second to get a single letter.

Since you didn't post what operating system you're using I can't give a specific answer. You can go here to find out what the sequence is for your OS
For xp sp2 hold down on shift key fo about 8 seconds to turn on filter keys, then click cancel. Should turn them off. Otherwise search this database. Good luck

Fn key that turns off the tracking pad in xp and Laptop Gateway

Some laptops have this function and some don't. If you don't see a picture of the touchpad (maybe with a circle and slash) on the special function keys, then you don't have a Fn key combo to turn off the touchpad. Note that some touchpads have a little switch just above them to turn them off.

I have a proform xp 580. when I turn it on,

Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key.
Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.

My xp-50 is emitting a noise when the keys are pressed

If the level is very low, this is what is known as "digitizing noise".

The waveforms from synths being digital in nature, have sharp edges that are filtered. There is a fine line between filtering too much and too little.

There is ALSO the statistical noise that is present in electronic devices that you can notice when you turn the volume way up.

These are all NORMAL and the nature of the beasts.

You answered my last Question.

The XP fix is the same for Vista

Click the start button, type Regedit, Registry Editor should appear on the program menu above, Right Click Registry Editor, Click RUN as ADMINISTRATOR

Once registry editor opens, navigate to the key indicated in the XP article and Delete the listings for upper filters and lower filters (There may be only one listing and only remove the filters from that one key)

The close registry editor, and reboot the system

Keyboard doesn't work properly

Turn on your computer, go to the control panel, if you are using Windows XP, click on switch to classic control panel" and then go to Accessibility Options. There is a keyboard tab that the settings can be changed to help people with disabilities operate their keyboards better but if you hold down certian keys for more than a few seconds, Windows XP will activate these settings. Sounds like your son accidently turned on "FilterKeys" There is a check box on the Keyboard tab of Accessibility Options that turns off FilterKeys. If "Use FilterKeys" is checked, uncheck that box and then click "OK" and see if that helps.

Good Luck!
