Re: opc drum

The OPC is factory rated at 120,000 and developer at 200,000 copies. I own a copier company and for (29 years) have repaired all brands and models and still repair this 450 model. I have seen the 450 drum go to 200,000, anytime the OPC is replaced I always replace the developer, and drum blade is a must also. The 1045 aficio is the model that followed the 450 and is an upgraded duplicate. Toner leaks are the biggest pain i find inside the front door cover, but its overall, a well built workhorse and i have seen meters as high as 800k and 900k still I overhaul these Ricoh units and resell them with a year warranty, and if they werent tanks, then I would get killed on the 1 year parts warranty I give.

Re: opc drum

How many copies does it show on the counter. (user tools-counter) More than 600,000....stock up on the Advil.
Use the correct supplies from Ricoh, not some other stuff and it should run pretty well for you. Upper fuser roller wear and jams are the most common problem.

Re: opc drum

Average drum life is 1,20,000 copies .you may get more than that.use good quality spare and consumables(I will prefer the original Ricoh).Machine will not create much problems.

If you use Katun OPC drum in your machine and is work more 80000 copies you need to replace the OPC drum and the drum cleaning blade. After replace the drum perform the process comtrol and the SC990 disipaire.Whenever use other genuine parts and not original Ricoh parts appair SC codes to refer HDD parts.100% this method is working.

Black spots in the dram ricoh 450

Are the black spots on all copies. if they are only on teh copies done from teh glass scan then it could be dirt on the g;*** plate. if from all copies it is the dev or drum area.. are the dots moving across the page in the same place if you do lots of copies this means it is the drum that is damaged.. if they are blotchy marks it could be toner build up.. if the marks are in a line across the page open up the side door adn look at the hot roller in the fuser the coating could be damaged and the roller need replacing..GOOD luck A

When developer goes bad you use more toner for one thing, but the main sign is a gray background in your copy. The print should be black but appears to be gray. The ricoh 350/450 was always noted to leak toner and developer as it runs. Check your machine and see if you see any small piles of toner, which also has developer in it, in the machine. Ther are small seals made of felt that need to be replaced if you have this problem. These seals rub against the drum sides....Good luck.

Dev. initialize should only be done when replacing dev.otherwise it will not add the correct amount of toner to the dev.Replace developer and run sim.2-801 in service mode.

N 450 aficio

Have you replaced the opc drum lately?? The toner density is looked at on the drum with the ATDC sensor. It seems like your tring to adjust the toner density. That is just a band-aid. try to replace the developer and if needed the opc and clean the drum unit and the ATDC sensor. You shouldn't have to readjust in the service mode.
