Ok...here is what i got first.

My xbox is about 10-11 months old, with the harddrive.

I play bioshock and other games fairly often with no problem including over xbox live with my gold account.

I purchased Halo 3 at midnight, played it for about a 3 hours. Logged onto xbox live, played halo multiplayer for about another 2. Everything seemed to be working fine.

The next day, i try to play halo and the menu has disappeared. I load the game like normal, and when the menu usually loads to choose campaign or mutiplayer, the box is there and so is the selection box, but no text.

I can hit the options to go into the lobbys but there are no text there either, and i can not start the game from this point. The game pops up a error screen with a orange triangle, but there is no text in the error box either.

I have heard that there was suppost to be an update for the Xbox OS that came out with Halo 3, but I never got the option to update so i assumed i have it.

I have called microsoft's tech support and after about 20 mins of going through menus got a guy in India, who had no idea what I was talking about. Either they have not had anyone call with this problem or they are not admitting to knowing it.

He did send me a link, saying it would help me to update my dashboard manually.

Tried it and it doesn't work, it keeps asking me to plug in my HD dvd player, which i don't have and didn't tell him i did.

Is anyone else having this problem, or has fixed this problem. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

- Yeah, I have the same thing. When my xbox 360 broke and couldn't read any disks, I had to replace it, so I got a new xbox 360 pro. There was no update when we first logged in, and it plays Call of Dutyand Halo Wars just fine, only not Halo 3. There also seems like there is no definite solution too. - RyDunn

- I ve the same problem, can t get on-line, the hard drive cant be accessed by xbox and can.t see fonts on the menus.
i tynk that.s a software OS problem but i couldn t make the install of new OS with a memory pen as described in some sites.- Guest

- Halo 3 problem: Same problem as described about about menu disappearing and also the connection problem at the same time. When the menu problem is fixed when restart, I turned the xbox live to play halo 3, the players and the map came up but then map automatically got switched to a different map and few seconds later it disconnected me... this happened everytime I tried to play a game.- dipz19

ok my problem is when i try to go on match making it comes up when i select a mode i want to fight in for example big rank game

it says One or more players do not have the maps required to play in this playlist.

can any1 tell me how to fix this?

I think thats because of a new update that came with Halo 3, I bought the halo 3 special edition xbox 360 and it came with the update, so I didn't have this problem. I think its the new update from microsoft that is making this issues with the old xbox 360, when the update is corrupted you'll have to format your hard drive and then update again and pray that this time is not corrupted or you'll have to do this again and again, again, again. I think this happen when you have a slow internet connection because when I try to update in the house of my uncle who has a super speed, I never had this problem, also when you have NAT problems, the update can be corrupted.

How about go on bungies website, make sure all the maps are all fully downloaded and clear your cache... They didn't say HD-DVD player, they said HDD, which is hard drive... you access it in the memory and do a button combo available on their website to open system maintenance mode... do it... do it...
