Question about Canon PIXMA Office Equipment & Supplies
Make sure that the printer is plugged in and the unit is on. Then make sure that the document cover is closed. Lift the entire scanner unit. (Lift from the center above the paper output tray.) A support rod should engage to hold the scanner unit.
The print cartridge carrier should move into center of the printer to allow you to access the cartridges. (If there is anything blocking the carrier, you may need to remove the foreign objects. See below.) If you take more than about 10 minutes to change the cartridges, the carrier will return to its home position. Close the scanning unit and reopen it.
If you put a cartridge in incorrectly, the cartridge could block the carrier from moving properly. You should unplug the printer before trying to slide the carrier back and forth to either check for foreign objects or attempting to reseat the cartridges. To insert a cartridge, push it into the appropriate slot and then push down. For removal, lift up and then pull the cartridge back.
I hope this helps.
