I have nec nd-3100Ad dvd+rw , it cant detect blank dvd, help me

since you have been inside your computer and moving leads about some of these may be old and deteriotaed then any movement might

(crack break the circuit even if its slight)

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

i ran into this problem a while ago. I had to test different dvd's. I then looked on the manufacturer's website. there they stated which dvd-r, dvd-rw would work. once i tried that brand It worked fine.

Make sure that your buner supports the type of blank DVD that you are using.

well, sounds like common error promblem have you tried looking and seeing if mite have bought the wrong kind of dvd's I have done this before i bought dvd's instead of Cdrw's discs.? or try dowloading www.slysoft.com thier cd player plays and reads and rewrites almost anything .. lala linda

This is a single layer drive only. Usually dual layer drives have DL in the form factor so possibly a

first try a audio CD see if ti reads that fine. then inset a data CD and see if you can see all the files on it. Try a few data and audio CD's. If it has trouble with any of these your drive has gone to the great garbage dump in the sky.
