What would cause starter drag on a 2001 ford 6.8 l v10 engine?

On each end of the starter armature are oil lite bearings as the bearings wear it allows the armature to drag against the coil assembly of the starter causing it to rotate slowly. In this case it should be drawing much current. More than the draw when it is free. The bearings can be replaced and it is typically the one on the starter gear end of the armature. The other end does not wear as much as it does not see the load that the starter gear is on. I typically just grease the back end and leave the bearing alone.
While you have it apart it is smart to replace the brushes too.

It just stop running

seems to be issues with wires not seated properly, I had a wire that was not seated in the trigger switch. reinserted wire. Be careful on putting the wires back in place, not a lot of play. If not the switch, check the wires at the armature.

I have an old 315-11441 Craftsman Drill. I took it apart to fix the switch and in the process something must have shifted in or around the gearing. After putting back together when I power the drill I hear...

With these types of electric motors there is an armature, (the main brain of the motor) it has all the copper wiring wrapped around it and slides between two carbon brushes into the armature housing. If you took out the armature, there is sometimes a very thin peice of metal at the top of the armature which slides into the plastic housing above the armarture and creates a spring loaded "seat" for the armature, if this little shim looking thing fell out, you will need to find the old one. Without this tiny peice of metal the armature in the motor will have play in it causing the brushes to wear to one side or the other prematurely, the brushes have to wear evenly. Sometimes the brushes are spring loaded as well for a self-feed type deal. If these springs are missing the same thing will happen. Also one or both brushes could be in backwards. Check and make sure the brushes (black carbon and rectangular shaped) are positioned to support the spin of the armature. Lord, I hope this helps. I worked with small electronic motors over 15 years ago. I worked at the place for a few months, and didn't think I still remembered everything,

Removing armature from clarke super 7r edger and how to remove rubber backup plate that supports sanding discs.

The rubber backup plate threads on. You can make up a bracket to insert into the 2 larger holes of the plate. You must keep the fan of the edger from turning to unscrew the plate. I use a hard piece of wood or if you are careful, a large screw driver. The plate unscrews counter-clockwise.

Philco 841.205 TurnTable spring and plastic armature pulled off HELP

Well it turned out that that 45 degree plastic piece DID or WAS attached to the main post. It snapped off. I super glued it back on and to each side of that very flimzy broken plastic I cut two very small pieces of wood (using popsicle sticks) and super glued THOSE to either side of the broken armature piece. Once dried I re-attached the spring and it worksd like a charm.
