Question about Bizfon Additional 680 Control Unit Phone

1 Answer

Comcast and Biztouch 3

We ahve had a Bizfon 680 for years with Verizon. Minor problems. Week ago converted to Comcast all Ok. Today all the phones stopped working. Tested 680 OK. Called Bizfon support. She told me that Comcast sent a signal that disabled all phones connected to 680. Only solution was to send phones to Bizfon tey removed a chip. But this disabled CID, speed dial and other features. Asked if she could tell me what chip to remove. she would not. I looked for problem on Google found nothing. Any ideas? Thanks

First the background. It appears that Comcast's phone system has a higher electrical amperage than the original phone "twisted pair" copper wire. Every once in a while (can be months) there is an electrical burst that is OK on the Bixfon 680 but wipes out one of the chips in the BizTouch 3 phones.

The phones are dead cannot be used once they get zapped!

There is a fix for the phones. Bizfon will take the phones. They remove the "caller ID history" chip. The phones will then work. You still get caller ID you only loose the history.

If you buy new phones without Bizfon's "Comcast chip adjustment" (their label on the repaired phone) and there is another electrical burst, those new phones will die.

When I called Comcast tech support they denied any problems. In fact, she said she had worked for Comcast for 5 years and never heard anything like that. I insisted she contact someone in higher level support. I was on hold for 5 minutes. But while admitting nothing, when she came back she told me she was going to file a claim for me for the repair of the phones. Obviously, she was told there is a known problem. Unfortunately, I am still waiting.

Call Bizfon. Their support is really great. I think anyone will help you BUT, you will be very fortunate if you get Cecilia. She actually did the repair and is always very helpful.

he chip is ATMEL638, 25640N, S127 on the board at the U2 position. Just cut the chip off, make sure there are not shorts. The phone will function without several features (address book, CID history)

The in/out uses a standard network cable, and the network port uses a crossover cable (unless you want to use a network switch then standard network cables are used)

Using home phone causes comcast wireless internet to disconnect

Wireless internet runs at 2.4ghz. Your portable phone is probably also 2.4ghz and is knocking out your internet connection when in use. Look for an 800mhz or 5.8ghz phone as a replacement.
