Question about Computers & Internet
I bought a GE wired optical scroll mouse and plugged it into the usb port. it said the drivers were installed but it still isn't working at all, even the laser on the bottom is on so i know it has power. what do?
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Try disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the
USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When
the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB
port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: G9 Laser Mouse Scrolling Problem
thx for helping dude, logitechexpert my ***...
now check that...i was so pissed because of such stupid advice that i hit my mouse on the corner of my desk...yep i really did.
...and then it worked! it SCROLLS!
my theory: the logitech has a quite complicated mechanical clockwork-like gear switch for their scrollwheel. they are so proud of it, that they even have pictures of it on the box when you buy a g9. well, i guess when you make things more complicated they arent that reliable anymore...like the gear switch at your bycicle which gets messed up sometimes, because its small mechanical parts just get stucked. so my mechanical solution: turn your g9 around hold it and knock three times(not too soft: imagine the money you paid for this mouse and release your anger) just around the area where the mechanism is located...i had exactly the same problems like you and now it works perfectly! ...i guess i dont need to buy batteries.

connect your mouse. then restart your laptop do not remove mouse while restarting laptop. if not work after restart there is a problem in your mouse IC.

I have the same problem in Vista, I found a true and working solution apart of droping the mouse to the trash, ok, go to... http://www.a4tech.com/ go to the english version if you dont speak chinese, then find the driver for the mouse model ***-49Z, and there is the solution, GE isnt the builder of this mouse.
Greetings from Mexico.

I had the same problem, so I tried replacing the battery, and the problem persisted. Took the battery out again, put it back again, and repeated several times to no avail. Took the battery out again, rubbed the metal contacts in the battery compartment with my fingertip to remove any dirt, replaced the battery, and then the mouse started to work normally.
