correct you will need to unplug the dryer and access the top back panel there is a booklet in the top left corner, but anyways look at the timer for a loose or burnt connections, now if you take all the wires off take a picture write down what goes where as once you go to place the wires back they need to be hooked up right/correctly, hope this helps Tim

Dryer Does Not Tumble When Pressing Start

Hi,First of all check your door switch, make sure it is operational. If the door switch checks good, the start switch could be faulty, in newer dryers the start switch is built into the timer in older dryers your start switch may be separate, if you have to push on the timer dial to start the dryer, its built into the timer.

Check any other safety's that may be stuck open.Double check anyway. If it wont do anything, I would say its the door switch or the start switch.
Thank you

Our daughters maytag dryer will not start. Checked power input, thermal cutoff fuse and both thermostats and the door switch. I have not checked the thermal fuse at the motor. The schamatics show this...

You are obviously an advanced tech/owner....

Disconnect power to the dryer for a minimum of 2 minutes to recycle the breaker and timer and try again. If no joy...

Check the motor thermal fuse. Then check the on/off switch continuity (power and leads off). Megger or ohm out the motor and cap for opens or shorts.

Rotate the timer 360 (unless digital) and try again. If still no luck, sounds like the timer. You didn't say how old the unit was, if it is gas or electric, or the make/model.

GE model DQSR483EE1WW. This is what I know so far: the switch on the door works so it shouldnt be that safety, it is getting power because the light work and the timer at least buzzes like its working,...

Try looking for a broken belt. (electrical interlock prevents starting with broken belt) Disconnect power, open door, remove two phillips screws which go from top of door opening into dryer top. Swing top up and back. If belt not present going around drum, that's your problem. Remove one screw from side panel to front panel on each side (near top) and lift front panel forward and off the bottom pegs. Set the front panel to the side (leaving door switch wires attached) so you can slip new belt around drum. Reach under drum to put belt WE12M29 around drive pulley and around tensioning pulley. (grooved side of belt touches drum) Put front back on dryer and manually rotate drum a couple revolutions to make sure belt does not come off before closing up top and reconnecting power.

When i set the time on dryer and then push the button to start then dryer will run for a few minutes but then stops but still has a ticking noise

Your problem could be a faulty timer.
Watch the time and see if it rotates to different cycles. If it does not rotate to different cycles then you may need to replace the timer switch

Dryer drum won't rotate

if there is no air coming out of your vent on back of dryer then it would be likely your motor has gone out.
