Remote start devices rely on the vehicle being in a particular position or "state" before they will be able to engage the starter. Typical things checked is the gear shift position (park or neutral?), engine already running?, door locked? and more. If any one of these checks finds that it is in the wrong position or state, it will not engage the starter. Remember, even if the door is properly locked, or the transmission is in park, etc. one of the several switches that the remote start device checks may be damaged or faulty.
If you can't see something obviously wrong, you'll probably need to return to the installer to repair / adjustment.
