you're phone isn't actually taking a picture, it's just scanning the barcode. you need a program on your phone to do this. i used i-nigma. it's free and really easy to use. just go to i-nigma.com to read about it, or you can go to i-nigma.mobi on your phone and it will figure out what kind of phone you have and send you to the link you need to download the program.

Barcode Scanner is required to read the QR code. To get the app, open the Android Market and start a search for "Barcode." You'll see several options, but ignore all of them and scroll down to an app labeled "Barcode Scanner" and download the application.
