problem is, that nobody that i know of makes a replacement screen for that camera. This means it is an OEM part (original equipment manufacturer) and so Canon is the only place to go for it. If that's the price they charge to fix it, then thats your only option. (as of now, sometimes people start making aftermarket parts for electronics, but digital cameras are usually easier to replace than repair.)

SOURCE: How torReplace LCD display on Canon A640

Hi there, you could buy the lcd panel from canon for about $50.00 but it is a little tricky to replace. If you do open the unit, discharge the flash capacitor first other wise you may be in for the shock of your life if you accidently touch it!

I would not try myself. It is likely to require very delicate connections. If you don't care about using the camera, then go ahead. If you care, see what a repair job will cost.

LCD repair question.

there might be a compatibility issue there, like on the position of the lcd matrix wirings... usually on the bottom left. its very hard to say that if you buy another cam with the same size of lcd, i myself would recommend it though, youll just be spending more if you do that. why not buy a replacement and try to install it yourself. that would save you a sum of money. but be careful as you might further damage your cam. just be careful.

I have a damaged LCD on my Konica/Minolta X50. I would like to replace the screen myself; have searched e-bay and Googled extensively, but can't find a supplier for these screens. Repair shops have to...

Consider the following: Minolta closed their camera division in 2004, and sold the operation to Sony. That's also why the later Minolta lenses are compatible with Sony DSLRs (Minolta AF mount).
However, this meant that Minolta cameras were also automatically rendered obsolete, with no new spares being manufactured / supplied. (I know, I still own some Minolta cameras and have been down this road)
Now, I'm sure you can see how slim the chances are of getting any spares for the camera in question, especially a humble Point and Shoot.

It's time to aquire something newer (imho).

I have a black screen when I turn it on

Does the lens extend? Does the camera still take pictures? Assuming these two things, it sounds like you have a bad LCD screen. You can replace it yourself for the price of the LCD, but I wouldn't advise having a repair shop do it. I was quoted $125 by one local repair shop, awhile back, so I ordered one on ebay for $25 and replaced it myself. If you google "replacing a LCD screen on a digital camera" and add your make and model number, there are usually sites that explain how to replace the LCD, and some parts come with the instructions. Depending on what kind of camera you have, it might be better to just buy a new one. I saw an Olympus 10.1 mp for $69 at Office Depot awhile back- that's hard to beat!

Canun digital camera powershot A630 lcd screen blank

I also cracked my Canon Powershot A630 lcd screen by dropping the camera. I saw a suggestion to buy a new replacement lens and either have it professionally replaced or try it myself. I ended up doing the replacement myself following instructions I found online. Now it works. Total cost US $63.

I would not recommend trying the replacement yourself, however. There are a few very delicate plastic parts in there which I ended up damaging. Luckily the camera and lcd screen are working great now. But it is probably worth having a professional camera repair shop do the whole job or insert the screen you've purchased. Good luck!

LCD screen broken from being dropped - just a black splodge!

Replacement parts for digital cameras are hard to come by. even if you could find one, the electrical connections inside the camera is more problematic. the best suggestion is to take it to a camera shop and see how much the repair cost would be, (probably over $100). if you do not want to invest that in a repair, there are some really good digital cameras out there for about the same price as the repair. If you want to try finding an LCD screen for your camera, try Camera Repair Japan, CRJ, located in Duluth, GA, phone # 770-849-0555. Good luck.

Replacing LCD monitor on JVC Camcorder

Ya, i have taken apart a camcorder. The screen is hooked with a ribbon cable that can be unplugged. So you could probably do it yourself. Just keep track of all the little screws etc.
