Question about Miele S318 Bagged Canister Vacuum
If the sound is more like a growl or a whine when it winds down after being shut off, that's usually the bearings. The sad thing, in today's market, is that there are frequently problems getting parts for the foreign brand vac's. If I'm not mistaken the Miele brand is made in Germany. If it is, indeed, the bearings of the motor, the most economical way to fix it is to just drop in a new motor. First, the motors are frequently, extremely difficult to remove and replace, if there are replacement bearings available they are likely to be aftermarket bearings. It would be expensive to do even just for bearings, so if you're going to that much expense you should probably consider either a new motor or a new vac.
