Sounds like the machine is jammed somewhere...not sure of this solution, probably thread in the hook though

Testimonial: "Thanks. Now have the needle moving up and down, flywheel moving, feed dogs working but with quite a bit of growling noise. Bobbin race does not move. Thread is not picked up. Still can see no thread or debris to remove. This all started with a terrible thread snarl in the bobbin area. Is there some way to gain access to this area to look?"

Given Pfaff 297-1 sewing machine for charity work everthing seems to be right but it does not feed - the feedogs seem to be too low. It's sewing steadily on the spot.

Could be the feed dogs are lowered to do darning. Here's a manual:

See if the A/B switch makes any difference in the feed dogs.

Sometimes these old machines haven't been oiled like they should and it's possible the feed dogs are stuck in the lowered position. Also, if it was used a lot the feed dogs get worn and no longer work like they should.

How to remove thread that has wound itself around the back of the bobbin case on a Pfaff tipmatic 1035. Is it possible to remove the top plate to get access?

Remove the bobbin case. If the machine has a free-arm cover, it should be removed also. On most older machines, there are multiple needle plates (zig-zag or straight-stitch) available so they are removable & exchangeable, but for your machine, you'd have to verify. You'll have to carefully remove the threads by cutting with a tiny pair of scissors and pulling the threads using needle-nose pliers or tweezers. If you are unable to remove all the threads, you may need to take it for service.

My white machine want feed material it sounds like it is running fine and wheel is turning correctly what is the problem?

check to see if the feed dogs are dropped(darning mode), or lift the needleplate and clean out lint or debris stuck in feed dogs. when the needle is in the highest position the feed dogs should be about 1mm above the needle plate.

The presser foot on my Pfaff Tipmatic 6122 will not stay down, so the fabric will not feed.

It sounds like the pressed bar is sticking and will not push down completely and is difficult to lift. I have come across them many times on the older pfaffs. Unfortunately that is not sometime that can be fixed at home. It is caused by the lube going bad inside the pressed bar that lubbricates the spring that is inside the pressed bar. Find a pfaff dealer that knows about older pfaffs and they should be able to help.

Fabric not moving

You probably lowered the feed dogs; the 'button' is oblong shaped, and to the right of the bobbin case. I have had several Pfaff machines, and still sew with one, so email me if you still have a question. Sheila sheeleigh@yahoo.com

Not sure what the problem is but you might try this:

Remove the top thread completely from the machine.
Make sure the machine is cleaned under the needle plate, the hook/bobbin area, the feed dogs, etc.
If your manual instructs oiling, do so as described.
Confirm that the feed dogs are in the raised position.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot then rethread the top thread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Confirm the needle is installed correctly (does the flat part face the right direction?). Is it the right needle for your machine.
Set the top tension to the midway point.
Check that the stitch length is set to at least #2.
Re-test your machine. Tweak the top tension until the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Some machines have a presser foot pressure adjustment that increases or decreases the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and the feed dogs. You may need to increase this pressure.
