That happened to me. Push the home and on/off buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears, then wait until it has fully restored the system. This should work. Good luck

You may need to press and hold the sleep button. If not try to treat it like an ipod. Hold the center button at the bottom and the top one at the same time. Should reboot.

You may have damaged it when it was dropped. If the restore won't work then it's going to be a hardware problem.
If your lucky it might just be a ribbon cable that has come out of it's socket. If you have the first gen iPhone (2g) i wouldn't bother opening it up and it's a nightmare. But if you have a iPhone 3g then you could open it and check the cables.

you can try storing it in a bag of rice for a day or two. take the battery out and leave the back cover off. put it in a bag with rice seal. the rice pulls the moisture out of the phone. That is your first step. After that, if it doesn't work then you will need to replace the screen or get a new phone
