I have been having the same thing happen. I just discovered the bobbin winder was in the wind position. I moved it and I am in business again! Hope it works for you!

SOURCE: Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.

Clean the bobbin case area thoroughly, including removing the actual bobbin case. Vacuum and lint brush, no compressed air. Reassemble. If that doesn't do it, it's time to take it in to the shop.

I just bought a brand new sewing machine used it everywas fine now i go back to sew and it say E$ and wont start

Please look again--are you SURE it doesn't say C4? That error code for your machine says there's something stopping the machine, and it's usually thread wound around something it shouldn't be? Also, check to make sure that your bobbin winder spindle is not in winding position, and also check to make sure your buttonhole lever is all the way up. Turn the hand wheel--ALWAYS TOWARDS YOU FOR ANY MACHINE--to see if it turns freely.

there are many styles of bobbins out there and you need to make sure that you have the right style for your machine. If you do then I would suggest making sure that there is no lint or dust in the bobbin area. good luck.

Sound like the whole unit needs a good cleaning.
My rule is "if it moves give it a lube", be careful not to get oil on electric boards or in the motor. What is the make and model of your machine. I will try to help you more.
