Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Canon Pixma MP530

Hi: I recently replaced a magenta ink cartridge when the message came up that I was low on ink. There's no problem with the magenta cartridge but, when I replaced the cover on the printer, a message came up "Check ink" and, when I checked the ink, the light was out on the cyan ink cartridge even though, according to the original message I got, there was plenty of ink in the cyan cartridge. I took the cartridge out and put it back in again and the solid red light came back on but, after I replaced the cover, I again got the same message and the light was out again. Does anyone have any idea what the problem can be? (I was, by the way, advised not to put a new ink cartridge in as it could not be the cartridge that was at fault so I'd just be wasting the original one.) Thanks for your help Holliehead

Re: Canon Pixma MP530

I am in the same situation. When 'Check Ink' comes up, the yellow cartridge blinks.  If I take it out and put it back again, the printer will work.  Then after a while on idle mode, the problem will show up again.  Pretty annoying.

Hi. No magenta or cyan printing on my canon pixma 750. used the maintenance cleaning function and head refreshing to no avail. Any ideas, thanks Mark

Sounds like the ink jet cartridges need to be replaced. Cleaning will not solve the problem after the ink is depleted, and if the ink were low, the cleaning process uses up a lot of ink.

Good luck on replacing the ink jet cartridges.

How to refill pixma mx700 magenta ink tank without

The colors are individual. That machine takes the Canon CLI-8. I would suggest reading your manual on what the procedure is for changing the ink cartridges out, it typically varies slightly by machine. There should be an option somewhere one of the menus to change the ink cartridges. When you buy a replacement be sure you buy from someone who isn't trying to scam you. I would recommend Cartridge World, of course, or OEM. Do not use cheap online cartridges, you will only have headache later.

Says there is more than one magenta cartridge installed

Try replacing the cartridges one by one, one at a time to find out which cartridge is causing this problem. May be there is a magenta chip on one of the othercartridges.

Chip/no chip issue for Canon Pixma MP530

the printer NEEDS ink cartridge WITH the chip
BUT, you can move the chip from the old to the new cartridge, you just lose the ability to monitor ink have to visually check it from time to time
been doing it for months now... works fine, just keep a close eye on the ink when it starts to get low, can hose the printhead for that color if empty
printheads run around $55 or so - so actually, savings in ink will easily pay for a new printhead every now and then, if you screw up  :)

I keep getting a U150 ink tank cannot be recognized message. I check the ink tank, it is full. It lghts when I put it in, but when I put the cover down, the light goes out and is not recoginzed.

YES- the solution is I had been sold a cartridge for the printer that was same series 8 it needs but it was PM Magenta not a stand M for magenta so I found out form Canon - this is not a photo printer and it cannot use photo printer ink attached Canon's reply to confirm. Went back 3rd time got the M in the 8 series and all is good alarm light out and no error saying it cannot recognize the ink cartridge. YEAH!!!

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, the PIXMA MP530 only uses the regular ink tanks and not the photo
ones. This is the reason that it did not work correctly. Glad to hear
that everything is working now. If we can be of further assistance with
your PIXMA MP530, please let us know.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

Canon Pixma MP530 no cartridge

Hi Cathy,

First, take the ink cartridge out and wipe the ink head with a tissue. If that dont work try to re-install your printer drivers that should reset your printer back.I hope this helps you.
