Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: how to downgrade vista to winxp pro at Hp pavilion DV4-1204TU ?

Well, this may make you think twice:

I bought a presario from circuit city last year, and I paid $200 to downgrade to XP. Everything was fine until it crashed last week. IT went completely bizzerk. HP won't provide support, cause I changed it. Circuit City is out of business, not much help there.

Basically, I am completely #$%%@@.

I am now paying to get Vista put back in. :-(

SOURCE: Windows BSOD on all restarts, even in Safe Mode

7E is a memory issue or general driver fault. It's windows way of saying "i dunno it just died". If you have Dell diagnostics, run a full system check, to ensure the hardware is ok. If you get no errors, then you have a driver fault in windows. This is From Microsoft:
---
If the following conditions are true, the issue might be a hardware incompatibility with Windows XP because all the installed drivers are Windows XP drivers:

  • You receive the STOP 0x7E error when you first start the computer.
  • You receive the STOP 0x7E error after you run the Setup program.
  • You did not install any third-party drivers during the installation of Windows.
However, if you receive the STOP 0x7E error after you upgrade from Windows 2000 Professional, or if you recently added a new hardware device, this issue might be an incompatible driver or an incompatible hardware device.
---
Basically, the 7E error is a defective driver. You will likely have to get your computer recovered by a professional shop, or if you have nothing important on it, attempt to reformat and reinstall. It is unfair that Windows has borked your computer and they wont fix it. I hope I was able to at least point you in the right direction.

SOURCE: hp pavilion dv4-1220us overheating then shutsdown

Sounds like you need to take it in for repairs, clean outs and/or replacements.

This product is known for it's heating issue and power consumption. Maybe the fan is starting to wear out and it's affecting the rest of the system. I would suggest checking the warranty on the system, if it is no longer valid, then I would look for a local tech in the newspaper.

  • You may need to roll back system with System Restore (press F8 during boot and choose safe mode). Or, you could also try uninstalling last program(s) that was installed, again in safe mode.
  • Re-install Windows.
  • Lastly you may have other hardware problems. If it does another blue screen after reloading windows, especially with a clean install.

Hi cutiedaytime...
Try this before you do anything drastic.
Turn on the computer, while it is starting up keep tapping F8...this will take you into Safe Mode.
Once you are in Safe Mode you can go to Programs>Control Panel>User Accounts>Change Accounts and change your password there...it should solve your problem.

Hi kemisha, to get to the "Safe Mode" program.
You have to "retstart the computer."
Once you "hear to computer - Hard Drive {Hum}, and the "Fan" spinning!"
"This is the (Time you want to 'press the F8 button) several times quickly.
"It is important to do this before the "Prompt Screen" show up.
The {Prompt Screen} gives you the 'option' to go to the BIOS / CMOS setup.
The 'message at the bottom of the screen will read:
Press F2... or Press F12... for?
"Press the [F8] before this 'screen' appear!"
If you do this; the "window below will be 'present."
"Use the {Arrow Keys} to move, and "hightlight" the [Advance Options].

I had a pavilion dv4-1430us for over a year, recently I started up the fan was very noisy like a bearing noise. what should I do? thanks for the advice

If you have no experience with opening an repairing computers or laptops I recommend you take the computer to an HP Laptop Service center. If you understand the issues involved you can order a cooling fan from HP and install it yourself as long as you keep track of the screws in the outer case and where they go as well as any cabling.

You almost certainly have a virus. If you can't even get into safe mode the easiest way to fix it is remove the hard drive and back up any files on it with a different computer, then re-install Windows on the original drive.

You can try booting from your Windows XP installation disk and using the recovery console there to repair your installation. That's not too hard and I would say works 30% of the time.
