Not much water comes out of the tap and it doesn't appear to be filling, although the connection to the mains is working.

Hello,

The only thing that comes to mind is that you are on a well. Items like water heaters, heat pumps, sinks, etc are susceptible to mineral clogs. Usually this is solved by cleaning a screen on the inlet or outlet of a device such as a shower head. Thus resulting in more flow and pressure.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: under sink water heater no flow of hot water from it

basically the principle of the heater is water flows into a internal tank and is heated by an element. You open a hot tap and the mains cold water forces the hot out and replaces it inside the heater. As you have a flow problem i can only suggest you may have some kind of restriction or blockage in the cold water supply at the water heater or from the hot supply from the heater. If you live in an area where lime content is high then this can calcify when heated. If you can, isolate the water supply and electrical supply and check the pipework for blockage. Also investigate your hot tap as this may be the fault. Good Luck

Turn off the main water to the house , turn off gas to heater open lowest hot tap to take pressure off .Undo union on hotwater tap outlet on heater more water will come out , open cold tap at sink that will take pressure out of main . you should be able to change valve with out getting too much wet .

How do I drain the water tank

Anon, Make sure gas or breaker(power) is turned off to the Heater so it will not come on during draining, connect a hose onto bottom valve of water heater, run hose to a floor drain and insert, turn your water main off so as not to fill tank while draining, open water heater drain valve, water will then drain from attached hose into floor drain until empty. For water to run faster you may open a near by hot water tap, this will allow air into tank as you drain it, do not forget to turn this tap off before refilling tank. You then can turn main back on for a bit if you would like to do a flush of sediment from the bottom of tank.

LINCAT E3BF WATER HEATER

If the pipe itself is protruding more than usual, it sounds as if the tank has corroded around the outlet pipe. If you just mean the pipe coming out of the bottom, you must find the source of the moisture.
It could be a leak on the top or above the tank, or it could be condensation. If it is a leak, it will get worse, and you will know for sure shortly.

Get a shock from the tap while showering

I assume by main power feed your talking about the breaker box? If so make sure the breaker box is actually grounded. Also check inside the heater and make sure the ground wire in there is connected and has a solid connection.

No hot water coming out of tap but we do have cold water out of cold water tap...any suggestions??

Check your by-pass valve(s) at back of water heater. Water goes in cold to bottom fitting, and out hot at top fitting, so those 2 valves ( if any) need to be open, anything in between needs to be closed. There are a few different by-pass set-ups, so if that doesn't explain it, get back to me with a description of your valve set-up and I'll guide you through it. If valve(s) are all in proper position and still no flow through hot line, I'd suspect faulty check valve in between hot line connection and tank.

Cold water pressure poor in shower. Just had Rheem installed.

You might have clog in water lines.
If shower is only place where low pressure exists, then clog is probably at shower valve.
Disassemble valve and see if clog will flush out.
From there, you have to keep moving back along cold water line looking for pipe filled with sediment or elbow that has obstruction.

If pressure problem is bad at every cold tap, but doesn't affect Hot water, then clog is inside Cold line somewhere after water heater connects to cold line.
Buy a pressure gauge that connects to water hose.
Buy adapter that also fits pipe thread.
For example Brady BTG 100.
Test outdoor spigot for baseline pressure.
Open cold tap inside house and see how much pressure drops.
Close cold line and open hot tap and see how much pressure drops.

Next, move pressure gauge along cold water line.
Take apart pipes and inspect for obstruction at elbow or pipes filled with sediment.
Look for any place galvanized pipe connects to copper pipe, since this will be likely place for obstruction because of bi-metal corrosion.

What is the proper sequence for lighting the pilot on a whirlpool electric light water heater?

There is not pilot flame on electric water heater! It is electric! You just connect it to the proper inlet (cold water main) and outlet (hot water to tap), then connect it to electrical outlet, switch it on and that is all. it should run automaticaly when you open the tap.

How do i refill ny worcester junior 24i combi boiler? as i cannot get the pilot light to light

Two types dependent on age
Early - in the mains water inlet pipe there should be a service valve/tap which when turned on will refill [it is close to or part of the fill loop - a metal braided flexible pipe
Later - underneath there is a hole for a plastic tap [supplied with boiler] to be inserted [usually just right of center] Insert and turn 90 degrees then close to it another small knob or 2nd tap which when turned [same action as a basin tap] will refill. If the first tap is not inserted properly water will drip out past its seals
For both Refill to about 1.5 - 2 bar and turn off
For the later as above but also remove the 1st tap
