Maybe not, is the belt condition good, if so check for any wobble on the pulley, you may have worn drum bearings, this will cause the large pulley to wobble and throw the belt when it spins, also you can check the belt for being tight, it should be fairly tight but not tight enough to cause it to snap, if loose there should be adjustment at the motor end on the motor housing, all of this is assuming this is not a brand new belt, if so have you bought the right one?

Hi the problem will be the belt has become streched dont keep trying to use the machine as this will cause the motor to fail usually it is the back of the machine that will need to come off once this is off you will see how the belt comes off it is really easy to do and most people who can use spanners can do this with no problem.
I would say it is the back that comes off the best thing to do is take the belt off and take it to repair shop so they can order you the correct belt.
Make sure you get the correct make and model number as their are several different belts for this make of washer.
Let me know if you need anymore help ill be glad to help

FRIDGIDAIRE MODEL # FTF530FS0 - SERIAL # XC70213167 . BELT KEEPS COMING OFF?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(Start by this!)
I always recommend buying a replacement as belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person (assuming a front loader!):-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

PUT A SOCKET ON THE PULLY AND EITHER PUSH FORWAR OR PULL BACK AND IT WILL MOVE TO ALLOW THE NEW BELT TO GO ON. WHEN YOU LET GO IT KEEPS TENSON ON THE BELT.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I suggest 1) a replacement belt and 2) follow my guidance notes on fitting ;-0)
These are pre-typed!

My washing machine keeps making a lot of noise when on spin and the belt keeps coming off. When we fit the belt back on the drum doesnt feel stable could this just be the belt please help

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
anything to me. It's been about 55 years since I had experience with front load washers. However I can refer you to Applianceaid.com where they have very good and complete trouble shooting and repair information on front loaders. I think you'll find what you need there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you please rate my advice on fixya.

Belt installation

repacing the belt on a neptune is simple. unplug the unit and move it away from the wall.. now remove the 4 screws holding the access panel in place. loop the belt over the end of the motor shaft so that the grooved side of the belt catches the grooves on the shaft. now simply feed it around the tub pulley. if you find the belt keeps coming off you might have a bearing problem tht has caused the tub to shift. look for fine plastic powder, almost dust like, that would be the pulley eating into the back of the tub
