Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I have put refill ink cartridges into my Canon MX397 printer with fax. It refuses to print from memory the incoming fax messages. It keeps telling me to replace the ink cartridges. How can I reset like Canon MP287 which have a reset button but not the MX397.

SOURCE: refilled ink cartridges on pixma mp490 ...will not print

I know this is frustrating. I am all for recycling and using refilled ink and laser toner cartridges. However, the manufacturers make most of their money from ink and toner sales. So, from time to time, they will encode or datecode cartridge chips. The only times I've been ale to get around this is by using at least one genuine OEM cartridge to trick the printer. If that does not work, try another et of refills, or you will have to use only OEMs.

My Canon Mp190 Pixma printer refuse to print after I put new cartridges in. What can I do?

do you see any error message on LCD screen?

Sometime, if you put refilled cartridge, you may see some error such as E5 (cartridge is not readable)
If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

Why won't my canon printer MP460 read my ink cartridges? It keeps saying "Cannot read ink cartridges" on the black ink.

Hi, are you using Canon or refilled cartridges? If you are using Canon, there's a problem with the cartridge. If you are using refilled cartridges it's because the cartridge has been used. When you first put a Canon cartridge in, the printer reads the cartridge and knows it's a new one, I'm not sure of the mechanics of it, I don't know if it blows a chip or fuse in the cartridge but it can read a new one. If it's been used, it can't read it so you get the message that it can't read it.
Turn off the staus monitor and the message will go and you can carry on printing, it won't tell you when the cartridges are empty, you'll just notice the print quality going downhill.

On my pixma mx310 when the ink gets low it automatically holds all faxes in memory and wont print them unless i manually do it. I have a refilled ink cartridge put in that is full and it still wont let...

Current printer cartridges usually contain a chip which doesn't let you refill without using a chip resetter. It's sensing that the cartridge is out, so it won't print. If it was reset, try cleaning the contacts, carefully, with an electronic contact cleaner, or in a pinch, alcohol.

In Use/Memory FAX after changing ink cartridge

I had the same problem - it would not print the faxes as the machine would not recognize the generic cartridge - I had to get the official Canon cartridge to get the faxes to print out of memory.
