Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

UNABLE TO ACCESS HDD

Hi,
the HDD of your cam may be faulty, try to format in the main menu, scroll the screen "other setting","manage media" select HDD and format it. if formatting is not possible, it means the HDD is not good, change it.

On start up gave a warning HDD failure eminent .. and then it gave the blue screen

You have a "S.M.A.R.T." drive (more than likely)in your computer. It is able to tell you what its status is ... it told you failure was eminent ... and then it died. Hard drive dead, the operating system cannot load ... no operating system - dead computer - blue screen.

Your information is probably lost unless you are able to use a data recovery service to recover it. You may be able to 'save' your laptop by replacing the harddrive ... but it may not make economic sense to do this.

If you are in the USA and live near one of the Big Box stores, I suggest you take your computer for a free checkup offered by Staples and Office Max (in my area) and probably others I am not aware of. Get their second opinion on what you should do.

Remember, a replaced hard drive is not the end of it. You will have to reinstall the operating system and all other programs you once had on your drive.

Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com ... I hope I have helped you somewhat.

Open Files with .MSG File Extension Do you want to open a message with the Outlook .MSG file extension? The Encryptomatic MSG File Viewer makes it easy access Outlook MAPI message files (.msg files) created in Outlook 2000/XP/2003.
MSG Viewer reads .msg files encoded in western characters. It will display the text contents of the .msg file on your monitor. You can also print the message, save it to a text file, and extract file attachments.

Easy to Use Encryptomatic's Outlook .MSG Viewer is simple to use. It may be optionally installed as the default .msg file handler. This enables you to display a .msg file by simply double clicking it.
Extracts File Attachments from Outlook .MSG Message Files
Users can extract and save to disk any file attachments that were included in the Outlook .msg file, a useful feature not found in other viewers of this price class. To extract email attachments, just double click on the file attachment and save it to a directory.

viewer-screen.jpg What it Doesn't Do
The MSG Viewer is designed to give you quick access to an .msg file's text contents, file attachments and header information. It does not render colors, formatting or graphics, and it is not a full featured substitute for Outlook. With an RTF message with colored text and font formatting, the text will appear in black and white and the paragraph formatting will be lost (as in the message above). MSG Viewer displays only Western characters.

Hard disk failure

Hi, assuming the hdd won't finish a format, it is possible that some sectors are damaged. If you still want to try and use the hdd even with these defects, you can try and partition the hdd. Guesstimate at what point the hdd stops responding and really guess where the defects end. With this info, partition the hdd into 3 with the middle containing the defective sectors. Format only the first and third partitions. For simplicity, Win98 might be easier to work with rather than XP. Hope this be of some help. Do post again and let us know how things turn up.
