Agitator will not turn. It is loose. I took it off but there was nothing underneath it to tell me what the problem is.

I have removed the top agitator and it appears the dog ears are worn. How are they removed?

The agitator on my machine doesn't seem to want to turn completely, it just takes mini motions and every now and then turns fully. My washer machine is a Kenmore 80 series model #23822100. And it makes the lights dim every time it tries to turn. Can you help?

I can hear the motor running and the water fills and drains fine. The agitator just seems to shake back and forth but it doesn't move the clothes. The rinse and spin cycle seem to work fine. Basically it fills with water and will sit there shaking through the cycle and then emptys itself. It then rinses and spins. HELP!!!!!!!! I need step by step instructions to help to fix this problem.

I want to remove the Agitator. User Manual says 10mm bolt inside Agitator. But it doesn't Undo or Tighten- DOESN'T feel like its stripped -Could Drive shaft just be turning with bolt? Ron

You will have to hold the shaft underneath while you turn it, most likely it came a bit loose, but is rusted holding to he shaft, but no longer to the agitator.

Machine not agitating

The most common cause for the agitator not spinning is a broken drive belt. If you are able to turn the agitator by hand, the belt is likely broken. If the agitator cannot be easily turned by hand, there is likely a piece of clothing jammed underneath and the agitator will need to be removed to clear the jam. The video below will demonstrate the procedure for replacing the drive belt in most Whirlpool washers.

My Whirlpool LSR8233EQ0 washing machine making loud whining and banging noises during spin cycle only...any ideas on what to replace?

Two possibilites would be a loose agitator (some agitators can betightened from the top, check for tightness)If you can't tighten the agitator from the top, turn the machine over ( you will probably need to disconect water hoses first) and check the underside. From here you should be able to determine if the agitator is loose or more likely you've got a loose drive belt.

Whirlpool washer not draining

most top loaders use belt drives, it sounds as one of the belts has snaped. can you see a belt laying around a pully or on the floor of the washer that has come away , or a pully with out anything to turn it.

Loose agitator

Remove the center dispenser. Under the dispenser is a plastic cap with a pull handle on it. Pull the cap straight up and you will find a mounting bolt underneath. Using a socket and ratchet, tighten the bolt snug. DO NOT overtighten as this may cause damage to the agitator. If you go to and type in your model number, there is an excellent exploded view diagram of the agitator components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. If you still require assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
