Apple iPhone Voicemail occaionally doesn't set itself up properly and has to be configured manually.
Press the phone button on your iPhone. (Green one, bottom left)
Press the keypad tab.
Type the following: *5005*86*yourvoicemailnumber#
Press the call button and wait a few seconds.
Press the voicemail button, and it will now call your voicemail.

What model VTech DECT 6.0 phone? Are you referring to the messages on the answering machine or on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company?
Either the voicemail box isn't setup, the voicemail box isn't assigned to that extension, or that extension has forwarding setup that is incorrect. I have no experience with a Nortel phone system though so if you need specifics on how to get into those areas of your system to fix them you'll have to wait for another response.
Depending on the carrier it can be a little bit different. Basically you need to dial the voicemail number from your cell, most commonly 123. After this an automated machine will guide you through the setup.
What Toshiba Voicemail system do you have? Is it a Toshiba or third party voicemail? Depending who setup you voicemail and what version you have. Mailbox 990 is the Intro greeting "thank you for calling xyz company". Mailbox 991 is the main greeting "press 1 for sales press 2 for tech support etc. If you have a toshiba Voicemail. Need to login to 990 and 991 (need to know passwords) Newer versions you can setup just 991 mailbox for both.
Had the same problemwith my iPhone 3G this is how I fixed it -
1) From the iPhone 3G, I called my own iPhone 3G number. 2) Went through the setup. After finishing the ssetup Hang off the iPhone 3G. 3) Then the voicemail button on the iPhone 3G worked - first time, there was a **** pause, it asked me to enter my voicemail password that I had set in step 2, and that's it.
Which mobile service carrier do you use? Are you trying to setup voicemail to play your messages on your phone, or are you trying to setup greetings and what not inside of the voicemail?
Your voicemail settings depend on where you live, and there are hundreds of different access numbers. If you are trying to setup the phone to connect to voicemail and are on Cingular/AT&T, call them at 800-331-0500 from a different phone and they can walk you through the setup easily since they have access to the appropriate voicemail access number for your location.
