Question about John Deere Garden
The engine starts in choke, but pulses and stalls when you exit choke. Replaced fuel filter, blew out lines, and blew out carb. Same symptons. Help.
Most likely the Nikki carburetor needing a good ultrasonic cleaning and a carburetor repair installed. It would be best for regular lawnmower repair shop to do this as the Nikki can a pain to get the parts replaced correctly and even the new gaskets can leak sometimes.

If the choke has an adjustment point, then adjust the choke to a good overall working powerband. If it still doesn't act correctly, look for vacuum leaks. If it is an option, you may want to install a manually operated choke lever.

On the bottom of the carb., there is an anti-after fire solenoid, take it off and make sure that it is working with the key switch, it should retract when the key is turned on and go back out when the key is turned off, if it doesn't check the red wire to make sure it is still connected

Replace the spark-plug, check the quality of the fuel(gas that is mixed or was stored more then three months is stale and wont fire correctly) make sure the fuel and air filter not clogged. If there is no change then your problem may be more technical, a nest may be restricting the govenor or you missed something with the carb and there still is debre causing it to stall.

check all wiring and make sure there are no shorts especialy at key switch also blade and seat safety switchs it could be grounding (question does it backfire at all?) if so is it from carb or out of the exhaust. one more tip the flywheel keyway also servs as a timing pin if it is worn replace it with a new one.. they can cause a multitude of problems if they are worn even the slightest wear can cause it to start hard and other wise run sometimes very well .
point is for under a dollar you can rule it out and possibly eliminate the problem at the same time good luck hope this was helpfull and you can get it going good if i can be of further help e mail me firstname.lastname@example.org
