SOURCE: acer travelmate 4230 bios password

This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

HOW DO i MAKE NC6000 BOOT TO USB DRIVE

Turn the computer off in the normal way.

Turn the computer on, tapping the F2 key [it might not be F2, could be esc, F1 F8 or F10, depends on the make and specific model of your PC, for my HP desktops it's F2] a few times each second. This should enable you to enter the BIOS set-up (which key to press) (see https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=A0LEV2bavtZTVmcAjVFLBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTE0bTVyc3Q3BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUFVLMDdfMQ--?qid=20071012195523AAXHNK3)
Look at he screen carefully while you do this, because the computer often tells you how to enter the BIOS setup during the start-up process, but the information isn't the for very long: you may have noticed this while you starting the computer all those times in the past.

Once in the BIOS set-up navigate to BOOT options or something like that. You may have to work your way every option (there aren't that many) to find it. Once there it will show a list of places to boot from - these are typically the hard drive, the optical disk drive, and the USB port, you may even have eSATA option. These will be in order. Change the order to make the laptop try to boot from a USB device first. Now exit the BIOS set-up saving the change to the boot device order. If there isn't a USB device when you next boot the laptop will just try the second device on the list. If you start up the computer with a bootable USB device in a USB port, it will boot from that device. (eg a flash memory drive)

There are other ways, but this is fundamental way if your BIOS supports boot from USB (my desk tops do not so I had to find another way)

I can't boot from the Internal, or via an External USB connected \r\noptical drive? Any suggestions? Is a boot via a Flash drive possible on the PCG-K45? Many thanks for any input...

hello, have you tried changing device boot orderfrom BIOS?
you should change device boot order or press the appropriate button (commonly F10) during POST (when laptop starts to initialy work, it writes which button the first 5seconds that it starts to work) and then you will see a box that shows all the availiable devices to try to boot from. All computers and laptops can boot from any internal or usb if these devices work properly and have a proper image to boot from.

How to make CD Rom run as BOOT? please key in

Go into the BIOS and change the boot startup device order. Make the CD the first boot device and the hard disk the second boot device.
If you do not wish to change the BIOS you may select the CD drive as an alternate boot device by pressing F10 or F!2 as the laptop boots up to bring up a list of devices to want to boot from, select the CD drive and the follow the screen prompt.

My computer is not starting when i insert cd it cannot diplay

I can't see the problem but I'm guess that something other than the CD is set as your primary boot device.
Most PC are able to go into the BIOS, You do this by pressing the f10 key. You will get a BIOS display show your system parameter. the bottom of the page gives you the cursor move keystrokes. You need to find the line which displays the order of boot device and set CD as your primary boot device. Then press the f10 key and reboot. It should look to boot from the CD first.

I can't seem to get my HP DV1000 laptop to boot from USB I go into the bios and it shows it as a hard-drive but it won't boot from it. I've made a Flash drive with bootable Ubuntu 10

Start up the computer and hit F10 a few times during start-up and login to the BIOS and check that the USB drive precedes the hard disk and CD/DVD drives in the boot order. Use the + and - keys to move the boot devices up or down within the boot order. After you have completed this, hit the ESC key and then choose Select Save Changes and Exit. The computer will now attempt to boot from the devices in the order you have specified.

Would you kindly rate my answer please if this has helped resolve the problem - thanks :)

PXEE61:media test failure, check cable PXEM0F:exiting PXE ROM operating system not found

You didn't ask a question. I assume this is an error on boot-up? If so, then the system is reporting that no pxe server was found to boot your system over the network. To correct this you should enter the BIOS setup upon power-up (via hitting the delete, f1, f2 or f10 key - depending upon your computer) and disable the boot from network setting. Save configuration and restart. You should probably set BIOS boot order to 1st device = cdrom, 2nd device = harddrive.

    Problem in reinstallins operating system

This can be started by changing the boot order of your system.
To do so, start up the laptop from a shutdown stance.
This part requires some speed, it will either require the "F2", or "F10" in most cases. IIts not 100% guarantee that this will be the two buttons required for activation of your bios.
WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL IN THE BIOS. YOU CAN FOUL YOUR COMPUTER VERY EASILY BY CHANGING THE WRONG SETTINGS IN THE BIOS.
When you enter the bios, try to find the boot settings. And make sure your cd-rom is selected as the primary boot device.
After you change the cd-rom as the primary device, Save and Exit from the bios and your computer will automatically restart.
Make sure the O.S. (Operating System) CD is in the CD-ROM and it should automatically boot from the cd-rom, it may come up with options, your options should await you when or if the auto boot from cd works.
    Hope this helps.
