Can piles cause groin pain

Usually not: But if there is an infection, the groin pain could be from enlarged and inflamed lymph nodes. Dr. Olaf Johansen says: Enlarged lymph nodes, muscle strains, inguinal hernias or testicular problems would be more likely suspects.

What causes leg cramps?

Idiopathic leg cramps

Although the cause of idiopathic leg cramps is unknown, there are a number of theories about what might cause idiopathic leg cramps. These include:
  • abnormal nerve activity during sleep which causes the muscle of the leg to cramp
  • excessive strain placed on leg muscles, such as when exercising, may cause the muscles to cramp at certain times
  • a sudden restriction in the blood supply to the affected muscles
Also, tendons naturally shorten over time as a person gets older, which may explain why older people are particularly affected by leg cramps. Tendons are tough bands of tissue that connect muscles to bone. If your tendons become too short, they may cause the muscles connected to them to cramp.
Secondary leg cramps
Secondary leg cramps are caused by an underlying condition or another identifiable cause. These include:
  • pregnancy: the extra weight of pregnancy can place strain on the leg muscles, making them more vulnerable to cramping
  • exercise: leg cramps are often experienced when resting after exercise
  • neurological conditions (conditions that affect the nerves in your leg muscles): for example, motor neurone disease or peripheral neuropathy
  • liver disease: if your liver stops working properly, toxins will build up in your blood, which can make your muscles go into spasm
  • infection: some types of bacterial infection, such as tetanus, can cause muscle cramps and spasm
  • toxins: in some people, high levels of toxic (poisonous) substances in the blood, such as lead or mercury, can cause leg cramps
  • dehydration: in some people, low levels of water in the body can lead to a drop in your salt levels, which can trigger muscle cramps

Medication

Certain medications have been known to cause leg cramps in a small number of people. These include:

I have a stabbing pain top right of my stomach when I turn and bend to the right and it happened simultaneous when I fell and also injured my lower back intercostal muscles. Can it be that I have pulled my...

It certaily could be a muscle strain, or even a tear. Time is the cure. You can take painkillers in the recommended dosage to help, and rest it as much as possible.

However Fixya is no substitute ever for a doctor's attention, and if it worsens or shows no improvement in, say, four days, you should visit a doctor, to whom I hope you have reasonable access (many don't).

Had operation on my hands since then muscles on my arms faded. At 62 years is it possible to build up the muscle again.

Yes certainly it is. However I can't say here you should use supplements, they may be the wrong thing. It may be also that certain exercises which place strain on your hands could be harmful at this stage, eg using heavy dumbells. I'd ask the doctor or physio what is the best way to start given your surgery.

What does Posterior shin splints means?

Posterior shin splints, on the other hand, result from strains put on the posterior tibia muscles. They are caused foot and leg imbalances. As such, people who have flat arches and imbalances on their tight calf muscles tend to be more susceptible to this condition than those with normal foot and leg formation. Posterior shin splints usually happen when the posterior tibia muscle gets stretched as the foot becomes flat during each step. The stretch causes the muscle to repeatedly tug on it's tibia attachment, causing pain and inflammation if it goes on long and hard enough.

What does anterior shin splints mean?

Anterior shin splints result in the inflammation of the anterior tibia muscles in your leg. The main causes of anterior shin splints are those activities which require quick starts and stops. Examples are jogging, basketball, or sprinting. The sudden force changes result in a heavy strain and pressure on your anterior tibialis muscle, causing it to become inflamed and irritated. If you're not a habitual practitioner of the said activities, then you're in a likely risk of getting this shin splints Non-regular runners who suddenly decide to go on a long sprint are especially prone to this condition as the anterior tibialis muscles must work extra hard to control the forefoot's landing with each stride. Running downhill is even worse as doing so adds more strain on this muscle just so your forefoot won't slap down. On a lesser scale, people who run wearing shoes with poor shock absorption and those who run on the balls of their feet are also prone to contract this kind of shin splint.
