SOURCE: Looking for shaft lock to change the blade on MK 170 wet saw

Just use a rag and grab the blade. Unless the threads are messed up you don't have to hold the arbor still, just the blade.

Why can't I tighten replacement blade sufficiently?

Check the diameter of the replacement blade hole against the removed blade. Similar blades can have different size mounting holes.

I need to rplce the blade on a 10 inch wet saw. The nut is extremely tight and I want to make sure I am turning it in the correct direction. If I want to loosen the nut, do I turn it in the opposite...

In most tile saws it is a clockwise thread for tightening, and anti-clockwise to undo the nut (from looking at the blade with the nut facing you) If you have a vice it is sometimes best to clamp the the blade into the vice with the tool resting on top, to help when undoing the nut. Take caution when doing this, do not over tighten the vice as it could buckle the blade and as always when changing a blade disconnect the tool from any power supply. Hope this was of help to you.

10'' table saw binding?

Sounds like you lost a spacer that goes behind the first flange against the motor bearing, you could use a lock washer if you bend it flat.

spacer washer,
first flange,
second flange,

I think the first flange is rubbing the motor housing.

How to change blade;where is button to hold blade from moveing

There is no button to lock the arbor on a table saw. One method is to take a piece of wood, about 1" x 1 1/2" x 16" long, rest it against the back or front of the table throat and lever it against the blade, holding the blade from spinning while you use the wrench to loosen the nut on the arbor.
Make sure you first unplug the saw before changing the blade. Lever against other end of throat while tightening.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!

Replacing the blade on a Makita 255mm miter saw

I take it you have both flanges and the washer that is behind the innner flange, if not stop there and you need to get them. As far as the blade goes it depends on what size arbor it has. You would need to use the washer that goes on the spindle with no play (movement) and put the blade on the washer I would not use a washer that is thicker than the blade. Put the outer flange on making sure of the direction and then the blade bolt LH thread. Let me know if you have any problems before starting the saw PLEASE and I will help more.

The bearings in your saw need to be replaced. I would contact a DeWalt store to obtain the parts or have them do the repair. You have an excellent saw there, well worth repairing. good luck.

Dewalt 708 sliding compound mitre saw

Probably a worn bearing. The only other thing that I have seen cause this is a bent spindle. This would usually occour if the machine has had an impact or if the blade has been suddenly jammed against a nail or something in the work that has caused it to jam and/or jump up.
A good indicator for bearing wear is to see how much play is in the blade in an up/down and side to side movement (unplug saw, safety first).
To check spindle, remove blade and run machine without the flanges etc on. Rest a scredriver gently on the shaft as it spins and see if you notice any (uniform) vibration.
