SOURCE: bar oiling problem

Just a thought: Is it cold where you are? At this saw mill where it is my job to keep chain saws running, learned years ago that you cannot use "bar oil" in winter. Need thinner oil, like motor oil. ....preferably a "non-detergent" motor oil, plain 30-weight is OK, HD30W will work, but the HD part causes the chain to stretch more so than standard bar oil. The bar oil literally is so thick in cold that it stripped the worm gear out of a Poulan Pro oil pump (plastic gear, anyways, wasn't much to begin with.) But thought you may want to try thinner oil, if it is cold where you are. Oh yea we also have 2-Husqvarna 359's with 20-inch bar, and use thinner oil in winter. Our Husqvarnas have an oil adjuster located on bottom, on clutch side. Straight slot screw adjustment.

SOURCE: Do not have manual and need one. Do not know what type of oil it uses.

According to the manufacturer, "Use SAE 30 motor oil for best results. (For temperatures below 30° F, use SAE 10. For temperatures above 75° F, use SAE 40.) DO NOT use Bar & Chain oil." I will need the actual model number of your saw (it should be loacted on the saw it's self) to see if I can find the manual for you. I hope this helps so far...

SOURCE: haqve model #142 chain saw

There is a filter in the tank on the end of the oil pick up pipe, if you have checked the gear you must have already removed the cluch and sprocket, if you now remove the two screws holding the pump and take it away, behind here is the pick up pipe, pull it out with long nose pliers and inspect the filter, the later machine has an up graded pick up and delivery tube in one to stop any leakage, if you have a seperate delivery and pick up pipe i would suggest changing to the later pipe part no. 545037101, if this still does not help it will have to be a new pump part no. 530014410.

I have an older model Rockwell 10 inch Radial arm saw. The motor part number is 438-02-314-0786. Would anyone know the actual number of the start capacitor that goes with this model?

highly unlikely that that information will be available
the capacitor will have the details stamped on it
or you can get the motor details from the attached plate ( watts /hp) cycles , phase, make rpms and take the details along with the old capacitor to a electric motor repair shop and they will have a capacitor that is a replacement unit
if you don't have the old capacitor , they will know the capacitor required from the details

I recently replaced the worm gear from my backup saw which is an older 372 xp and upon taking out the old one noticed that it was fit with a metal inner piece and that the one I bought at the shop had

The early pump gear was all plastic, the later gear has a metal arm rather than plastic to increase the service life of the gear, the later gear fits with the later oil pump with a laberinth on the outer face to stop dirt entering, both types run on a removable steel bush that slides onto the crank.

Rockwell/Delta 20" bandsaw. Locked

This site has the best collection of online manuals for older Delta machines. Have a look through the list and see if you can't find one of similar vintage. Hint; if you click on the pub type heading the list will sort by machine type. Also confirm that model number is correct. There are manuals for the 28-340 that may provide the needed information. I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with that saw to suggest a solution to the low/high speed issue. If you are running on the correct pulley positions, and they pulleys are corectly aligned, the belt tension adjusted, and the motor in good shape, I don't understand what the obstruction could be. Perhaps you neglected to adjust the belt tension when changing positions? See the guide suggested above for more on that.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

My 3051 worm drive circular saw has he bade

Just for your information there are not many parts available for this model any longer.

With that said, it may be something rather simple. I get this type of problem all the time. Does the blade have the diamond punchout still in the blade or has it been punched out? Make sure that the the type of mount is the same as the hole for the blade. Another thing to check is to make sure the clamp washer is there under the blade. This is the part that will have a raised lip that goes through the hole in the blade just enough to center it. If that is missing you can replace it with a new one: part #143783-00 . If those 2 solutions do not work, it is your main drive gear. The worm is probably ok but the gear is probably shredded. This part is unavailable and renders your saw useless.

I have just purchased a Delta Rockwell Industrial Table Saw. It is a 1.5 HP, 3 BELT, 3 PHASE UNIT. How should I clean and lubricate the parts. I also bought 22OV 5 HP motor to put in it because I only have...

The table can be cleaned and waxed with a good quality paste wax like Trewax clear. If it has rust, you can use automative polish/cleaner and a rag or fine scotch pads to get the rust out, then wax the surface to protect it. Period waxing will maintain a low friction surface through use. Old timers used to recommend rubbing the bare steel table with talc to seal the pores, but I find was is more readily available and gives a better surface for use...Wax is also good on the moving parts of the fence.
The worm gears and trunnions can be cleaned with compressed air and regular 30w motor oil in a pump can. Maybe a soft wire brush or toothbrush if needed to remove built up resin and pitch. If there's a really heavy build up on the gears, get some OxiSolve bit and blade cleaner from Woodworker's supply and it will safely dissolve the gunk to a consistency you can scrub off with a toothbrush. I maintain these moving mechanical parts with oil, which an old pro recommended years ago, and have found it doesn't contribute to sawdust build up as you think it might, not nearly so much as an assembly lube or white grease, and makes raising and lower the blade a joy. If you're concerned about dryness, you can try triflow or some kind of bicycle chain lube, but I've decided the expense isn't worth the results, and oil is readily available when I need it...
If replacement parts are available for your model, try here. Otherwise, and for older machines, you might find a manual or parts info at this site.
After market fences are available for your saw, and depend on user preference. I've been very happy with my Biesemeyer fence, after using it (and many others) for 22 years. It is also heavy duty.

Circular saw Types

There are for types of circular saws available. 1. Worm Drive - The motor is in line with the blade, delivering enough torque to carve up wet lumber or saw through concrete, which makes a worm drive ideal for framing or major renovation jobs. With the handle farther back, a user can better resist kickback and steer the 16-pound saw through long rips. 2. Sidewinder - The motor sits alongside the blade, making for a lighter (11 pounds or less) saw, which is more maneuverable over a long day than a worm drive. 3. Small Sidewinder - Weight, balance, and handle size are all key features to consider when choosing a saw that fits you. For a slight-bodied person, a small model may be more appropriate than a full-size sidewinder. 4. Cordless - Battery-driven models have increased in size as their power packs have gained voltage, making them convenient tools out in the field or when the electricity's not on. However, cordless models still have limited run times and generate less torque than corded saws. 5. Trim Saw - For finish work or paneling, this is your best choice. blades range from 3½ to 412 inches.
