Cleaning the screens will help the clarity also, they used to sell a kit that has the microfiber cleaner and special spray to get in the grooves of the screen surface. Very easy to use.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: picture getting dark on my 70" mitsubishi projection

I FINALLY got the problem fixed!!! Gee I feel stupid. I called a great local TV repair guy and he came out and fixed it for next to nothing. The stupid part is that all he had to do was take apart the TV's front fascia and clean the mirrors and things inside....it was FILTHY!!! Then the TV was like new again. It looks so good I wanted to kiss him. He advised that you really should be cleaning that about once a year or so to prevent this problem. Also, I live in Nevada with HIGH dust so that doesn't help either.

How do I adjust the color

I will presume it is a large set with 3 tubes.

On these sets if you remove the rear cover (this is the easy and safe way) with the set unplugged you will see above the circuit boards three large black cylinders------Clean with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel all three lens.

If they are dusty/dirty (they are the light sources for your picture) cleaning them will improve brightness. If dirty the picture will be duller and darker--happens over time as the lens face up.

There is a mirror in there at rear----DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN it as in most of these sets it is a film like material like plastic wrap and usually is not dirty.

Zenith pvr6069 rk is out of focus for letters and picture not very bright

First this set should have a production date on the rear of around 1995--fairly old.

If letters outlined in red etc--a convergence problem--either adjustment with remote (in menu) or a circuit problem in same area.

If picture dull and darker--locate the 3 large lens inside from the rear and wipe them clean--they are the light source for the sets picture and if dirty will cause a dark dull picture.

Let me know if questions.

We have a Hitachi 57XWX20B Rear Projection TV. We moved this week and now the TV picture is very dark. We have tried the magic focus and adjusted the brightness, yet the picture is still very dark. Any...

one of two things on this model==clean the lens on top of the chassis--the round large black ones.

Second: there is a resistor in the power supply that changes value and will cause this----also with set unplugged and back off since set was moved carefully look for any plugs not fully seated etc.

Try turning the round plastic lens holder, some adjust like that. As for the darkness, that's determined by the lighting in the room. Some cams are better than others, but a lot of them require good lighting. Hope this helps.

Picture getting dark

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.

try a lamp first, through best buy their about $150 -250. If that fails it might be the optic block assembly which is about $1,000, and i just recently had replaced, and the picture is as bright and clear as when i got it two and half years ago
