Cluster comes on and will stay on a few sec. Or until you give it some throttle or you can turn high beams switch on the. Cluster will come on for a few then goes off when you give it some throttle then off!! 500 ho Polaris ATP have checked a lot of things but ?????? Help Please. Thank You!!!

You may have to check all your wires coming from it and see if there's any cracks that may make it short out

You might have a bad connector unit. The clue is still the 'moving of the wiring harness kills the engine'.

I have a 2003 sportsman 500 ho thats doing the same thing. It starts fine everytime and idles fine but when you push the throttle it stalls and sounds like its loading up with fuel. Also its fouling the plugs when it does this b/c I can take them out and they are jet black (dry). I checked the spark and the spark appears to be good. So now I'm in the process of taking the carb apart to see if there is anything wrong with it and to clean it. If this doesn't fix it then I don't know. I really don't want to replace the coil b/c its like 150 bucks.

I have a 2006 Sportstman 500HO ATV, EFI. Sometimes it will run 100% correct, other times it will start, idle fine but then when giving it throttle will will start to surge almost like it's hitting a rev limited. Sometimes it will backfire and stall. I already replaced fuel filter, flushed the fuel lines and gave it fresh gas and installed a new spark plug, but no good. I also checked the throttle switch and it's not making contact to stall it. I download the service manaul and tested each sensor and they tested fine which is probablt why I get no check engine light.
This ATV is mainly used to plow snow in my driveway, no salt. It's used around my property but very lightly. It's still as clean as it was when I bought it and it doesn't have but about 40 hours on it.

Your headlamps , instrument cluster lights , warning lights , gauges etc... are all computer controlled in some way . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in various modules on your vehicle ! That is always the first place to start. This problem if no DTC'S are stored , checking the affected electrical circuits for shorts , opens , high resistance etc... would be a good next step . Also checking power and grounds of controlling module , in this case the BCM - body control module .

The body control module (BCM) applies a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage to the headlamp module and high beam relay in the underhood fuse block. The ground for the headlamp module is supplied from G113 or G115. For normal manual low beam operation when the headlamp switch is place in the HEAD position, ground from G202 is applied through the headlamp switch and to the BCM through the headlamp switch headlamps ON signal circuit. The BCM then applies a PWM voltage to the headlamp module/high beam relay voltage supply circuit. The headlamp module then applies battery positive voltage through the left front (LF) and right front (RF) LO Beam fuses to the left and right low beam headlamps. The ground for the left headlamps is supplied by G101 and the ground for the right headlamp is supplied by G100.
For high beam operation, ground is applied at all times to the headlamp dimmer switch from G202. When the headlamp dimmer switch is placed in the HIGH position, ground is then applied through the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit to the BCM. The BCM then applies a ground to the headlamp high beam relay control circuit. This energizes the HI Beam relay, the relay then applies battery positive voltage through the LF and RF HI BEAM fuses to the LF and RF high beam headlamps. The ground for the left headlamps is supplied by G101 and the ground for the right headlamp is supplied by G100.
The BCM then sends a class 2 message to the instrument cluster in order to illuminate the high beam indicator lamp. If the headlamp switch is left in the HEAD position, the inadvertent power control feature will turn OFF the headlamps after 10 minutes after you turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. If you place the headlamp switch in the head position after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or if the ignition switch is in ACCY position, the headlamps will remain ON until you turn them OFF or until the battery runs dead.

Why high beam headlights will not stay on ?


depressing the lever just turns on high beam momentarily. Keep on depressing until to you hear the switch "clicked" in to turn on and stay on. "De-clicking will turn it off.

you'd have to play with it and see if it's related to maybe a stuck fog light or simply the high beam switch is junk

sounds like something in the instrument cluster is searching for a ground. ck. all ground circuits for cleanliness.

I have low beam but no high beam. relay on new harness is good but it connects to the old harness. i put the new harnes on so i could have high beam on drivers side it worked for a while but stopped. most...


What relay's ?
The instrument cluster controls the headlamp systems that include daytime running lamps (DRL). The system allows the headlamps to operate at a reduced intensity when all of the following conditions apply:
• The engine is running.
• The transaxle is not in the PARK position.
• The normal headlamps are not on.
The instrument cluster turns the DRL system on by grounding CKT 592, thereby energizing the DRL relay. This action allows a reduced voltage of 6 volts to flow across the headlamps. If the vehicle has the optional fog lamps, the fog lamp relay will also be energized. The park lamps will turn on and the fog lamps will operate normally. When the headlamp switch is turned to the ON position, the instrument cluster allows normal headlamp operation.
The instrument cluster also has an input from the park brake. If the park brake is in the ON position, the DRL will remain disabled until the park brake is placed in the OFF position. On vehicles with an automatic transaxle, the instrument cluster will disable the DRL until the transaxle has been taken out of the PARK position.

I have a 1996 chevy 3500 p/u. No high beams or indicator light.


You dimmer switch needs replaced inside the stering column.
