Re: Cannot get producd to work on Windows Vista.

I've been trying to get mine to work on vista also. Actually trying to get this stupid little camera to work has caused me days of grief. When I restarted my computer after loading a driver for a chameleon Mega I got a black screen of death that i'm still trying to fix weeks later. BSOD, basically a black screen with a movable mouse cursor. You can't boot into safemode, running repair from the CD didn't work and none of the solutions i found on the web (fixmbr, fixboot, deleting the pagefile, ....) worked either. I did a fresh install on a different hard drive (yeah, i'm still working on it). Solutions: I suggest you invest in a webcam that comes with a vista driver. But if you are feeling bold, daring and unafraid; you can find some drivers at the following link. Don't know if any will work so use at your own risk. Good luck.

Re: Cannot get producd to work on Windows Vista.

Check the manufacturers website for the manual and downloadable drivers for Vista you need. Click this:- then type the [manufacturers name] and 'support' then click the most likely result after looking though all the results. Remember you are looking for the web site of the maker of the camera and NOT a supplier or reviewer of your model. When you are confident you are on the manufacturers web site then look for support and try to find the information for your device. This is meant as a generic solution to 'camera manual and driver support' questions and should be rated 'Thanks for trying' or better. There is no information on the model and no useful information regarding camera functionality problem solving. Regards

Re: Cannot get producd to work on Windows Vista.

1. You did not mention which camera. 2. You do not need any software to make the camera work. 3. You do not need any software to upload images in a ME/2000/XP/Vista computer Windows can do all that by its self. What is your problem exactly?

AIPTEK Dv8800 Driver malfunction? Answer

  1. aiptek web site has a driver solution for vista users I had same problem but with Win XP it keep seeing it as a flash drive .... I uninstalled drivers and re-installed them,- same error, then uninstalled again and removed the USB from device manager uninstalled direct X cause it was the newest version, then install everything from scratch without turning the camera on then try again and nothing, finally I turn to the manual and somewhere says "if you need to use it as web cam then press the menu button on the camera and select camara!!! as soon as I did that and additional port found in windows was detected and installed automatically then I got my video and microfono up and running. So easy right, but like always the software CD is missing the manuals too and people do not read. LOL .....

Windows xp vs window vista ---SOFTWARE

Hello, normally the best way would be to go to the manufacturer's website, which I did but they do not address drivers support for Vista OS, might want to do a search for the camera's drivers and chek to see if there are any compatible 3rd party drivers available, hope this little info helps.

Wont work with windows vista

I assume that you have already tried plugging in your camera and letting Vista look for the correct driver! If you have your original disk that came with the camera, try it. Even though it was not for Vista. Most USB equipment require that you first install the drivers before you plug in the device. I have not checked the Vivitar web site since I still use Windows XP but they might have a driver available for your camera. Keep in mind that you do not need to use the USB port to download your pictures to the computer!!! You could purchase a USB Card Reader that is Vista compatable and simple remove the Memory card from your camera and let the Card Reader transfer your pictures to the computer. When you have finnished copying your pictures to the computer, do not let the computer delete them! If you do, the camera may not work properly. I once let the computer blank out the memory chip and then my camera would not work until I reformated the chip with the camera. Then the chip would work again. Simply use your camera to remove the pictures after you have put them on your computer.
