I have a Sony projection tv KP53v45. It is about 9 years old. It wont turn on. The stand by light just keeps flashing, no picture or sound. I took off the back but I don't know what I'm looking at. Is it worth attempting to repair?

- I have a Sony KP-53XBR35 Rear Projection TV that continues to flash the red Timer/Standby LED about every 1 second, and I have no picture or sound. I have powered it down several times, even overnight, but when I power it back up, I have the same problem.
I do not have a remote for this TV. My Grandson simply tried to turn the TV volume down on the front of the set when this happened.
Can you tell me what this code means and what is necessary to fix it?

- sony 2005 46" projection stand by light blinks 9 times wont turn on if you try 5 to 20 times will turn on and work fine called sony and did shut down reset no help- Guest

i had same problem after house power switched off 3 times in same day disconnected power left overnight worked ok i will still take tv for a service .
red light was blinking 10 times

It may be worth repairing, depending on exactly what the problem is. The flashing light on the front is a clue to where or what circuit possibly has a problem. That is a self diagnostics in this set. How many times does the light flash, and we can give you a better idea on what or where the problem is.

it's probable transistor output horizontal short-circuit and the power switching can't start because the limiter is on

I am having the same problem that is describe here.. I have a Sony KP-61XBR48 rear projection TV.. The stand by light keeps flashing but no sound or picture.

When I try to turn on the tv the green light flashes briefly then the red standby light starts flashing and doesn't stop. I can't get a picture or sound to come up.
